After an 18 hour sleepless bus journey, we were dropped off at the Koh San road in Bangkok. We managed to find a hotel eventually in Rambutturi, then set off to get our Vietnam visas at the embassy. Realising that they were closed because it was Sunday, we decided to have a look around 'new' Bangkok. It was very different to the old town where we were staying, a lot more high rise and modern. We got a tuk tuk to Chinatown which wasn't the all you can eat buffet toen we were expecting. There was a lot of dried fish and dodgy markets selling everything from spare parts for a washing machine to porn. Walking down the Koh San road, although its not massivly long, takes forever. Partly because you cant miss all the bargins of cheap clothes ans souvenirs, but also becoause some of the mad stuff you see on the way. There's loads of stands where you can get anyting from a padi certificate to a UK driving licience or an Oxford University degree! The food is really cheap too, about 60p for a meal.
We eventually got our Visas sorted, and but we had to wait 3 days to pick them up again, So we decided to see a bit more of Thailand and head north to the old capital city, Ayutthaya.
