Set sail this morning for the Southern Island - that was a shock! The early start I mean. 3 hours later arrived in Picton and drove down to Kaikoura where we will stay for the night. Views now are of snow capped mountains, sheep, deer and cows. We have driven what you might call a coastal road to get here...boy, coastal in the extreme! Very picturesque and the people continue to smile, which makes us smile! Looking to watch some whales tomorrow and the odd dolphin. Weather is cool but pleasant and spring has certainly sprung. Gorgeous, pure white lillies dot the roadside and grow in huge numbers, quite something. More postcards as we descend the coast. Now, where is that winery????
