Hello everyone!

Well, it has been a good few days since we have updated this. We have moved on from Singapore and are now in the Cameron highlands in malaysia. Which is known for its tea plantations and various farms: strawberry, butterfly, honey bee....and cactus. We have only just got here but we are staying in a nice place called fathers guesthouse which has been recommended by many- so thanks for the recommendations! We have only popped into town and had lunch (curry, we miss indian food at the moment!) So me or Chris will have to tell you about our adventures here another day.

However, since being in malaysia we have visited Kuala Lumpur (KL) twice and the UNESCO heritage city, melacca. Currently I am having mixed emotions about KL. When we first visited it Chris wasn't very well (ironic that we get to one of the cleanest countries in the world having left one of the dirtiest and he gets sick in Singapore!) So we took it nice and easy, visiting the KL tower which is the 4th highest communication tower in the world and you get a great view over the petronas towers. Our ticket also included something called the F1 experience... which was interesting. Sitting in a carbon fibre like half car thing and trying to drive around an F1 circuit. The staff there quite clearly hated their job, I have never seen so many miserable people. Anyway, after this we headed to Bejaya Times Square. This is a HUGE shopping centre, and had I not been on a tight budget I would have gone mental here. I couldn't believe how big this building was. It even had a theme park on the top level, which was really strange because every once and a while you would hear the rollercoaster going round whilst you were browsing in shops!

One of my favourite activites of this day was the Dr fish. This was also in the huge shopping centre. What are Dr fish Natalie? I hear you cry! Well, Dr fish are fish that like nibbling your feet to get all the dead skin off them. Probably one of the worst jobs ever, and it was incredibly tickely when they are nibbling them (it doesn't hurt) but it worked wonders. it was like we had new feet when we were walking out! It also rained a lot on this day, so we bought emergency umbrellas and took refuge in yet another shopping centre and coffee house until it stopped, but it kinda ruined our night plans, so instead we will be visiting KL for a third time after Langkawi as we are flying back form here!

Our second trip to KL was yesterday where it was literlly a stop over. But, for some reason, a lot of places in malaysia are closed on Mondays, which we only discover once treking there! So once again our palns were ruined yesterday and we stayed in yet another shopping centre! Also, the bed and breakfast where we stayed was very noisy. A marching band decided to start playing directly outside our window at 11.30pm. Bloody fantastic.

From KL we jumped on a rather jazzy bus to Melacca! Melacca was a lot different to what I was expecting, but nice all the same. We stayed in this great place called River view guesthouse. It was a warehouse they had recently turned into a guesthouse, and it was nice and big and so homely. The owner Mani and Ray were fantastic hosts and made us feel so welcome there, and also baked some kick ass cake!! Unfortunatly Melacca was hotter than the sun, the humidity there was almost unbearable. We did our best to get the activites out of the way in the morning so we didn't melt in the humidity! But it was a very interesting palce to visit and did some great food. one place being capitol satay where you picked satay sticks with pork, liver, skin, ears, intestine or veg and cooked them in a big vat of peanut sauce, which was in the middle of the table. We didn't go to adventurous, we only opted for the pork and veg and some fish wonton! But it was delish all the same.

It does have to be said, the Singaporian and Malay food is slightly odd to me. Whilst we were in Singapore we went to a food market in one of the electrical goods shopping malls, and the choices there were 'roasted delight' 'chicken rice' 'western delight' and 'pig organ soup'. mmmm just what i fancied, pig organ soup for lunch. So you do have to be careful when choosing your dishes. Peking duck comes in full duck form, with head and neck attached, again, always a winner to the eye! But this is one of the delights of travelling! Whilst we were in Singapore I did have some amazing sausage and mash, but it still doesn't beat the Thatch's! Enough about food!

We will be staying in the Cameron highlands for a few more days, going to the various farms and eating a lot of strawberries and juzzling lots of different teas and then heading to Penang. Here I will be working off the tea and truck loads of strawberries and scones because a few days later we are staying in beach huts in Langkawi where i will hopefully be sunbathing! After this we are heading back to KL and then Chiang Mai in Thailand. I can't believe Malaysia is almost over! Before you know it I will be back in England trying to find a job!
