Day 9 Oodnadatta Track
Driving Day from Flinders to William Creek (Lake Eyre) via Oodnadatta Track. Rolled out of trailer at 8 instead of leaving at 8 as planned, ah well, bit chilly for an early morning packup!
Drive through another gorge on way to Parachilna then some bitumen on way to Maree (start of Ood Track). Just happened upon a Central Coast Convoy leaving Lyndhurst one of whom was Uncle Scott?! Nice to cross paths- I thought we were a few days behind, they only had a few km left before pulling up stumps so we were a bit jealous and regretting the late departure time with Oodnadatta Track still ahead of us.
Said track fairly uneventful apart from a few rocks thrown up, couldn’t get any reception to book site and permit at Lake Eyre Halligan Bay, so came bit further into William Creek (equivalent to Byrock with pop. of 12) and succumbed to the prospect of a decent steak and beer/gin at the pub. The gin was a beverage for me not someone for Matt before anyone familiar with one of Poppy’s jokes comments on that
