A gentle start to the day with no bright light blaring in our windows till about 7am (5:30am WA time). A slower start too after big driving day yest, wandered into Katherine around 10:30 to look at info centre which was pumping with an outdoor cafe housing some mother’s groups and lots of tourists. I was surprised - this town is quite vibey. We treated ourselves to a nice brunch and with the Big Bogan hat Stu wears and Matty’s Bull’s shirt the lovely waitress asked us if we were possibly from Nyngan! She is mates with a Loreto girl from there, Lil v impressed.
We drove out to Katherine Gorge and very unenergetically trudged up to the lookout over Katherine River, we’d not really been psyched to do any mission walking today after our triple gorge long weekend, but rallied and once we got started (and over the big climb) we enjoyed the exercise.
Back for a lazy afternoon pierced by Stu’s cries after his finger was mysteriously squashed in a toilet door. Poor little b***** minced it and will probs lose his fingernail. Has gone to bed a bit subdued and think it may hurt him for a few days. Yes Uncle Bath it is his middle finger so you may call that Khama!
