Thursday morning we were off for Dallas. It was still raining off and on, with rain in the forecast going into the weekend. I had sourced potential RV and Camp sites in the area, but we did not make many reservations because at the start of the trip, we decided that we wanted to be 'chill and flexible' with our plans. I know those are NOT words that you would normally attach to me or Rob, but we wanted to try and go with the flow as much as possible. However, this time, reservations in Dallas would have been the smarter move. The place that we wanted to stay was overbooked because there were so many flooded areas, the RV park lady told me that over 100 RVs showed up Wednesday without reservations. She also told me that there was nothing else available in the metro Dallas area and our best bet was to check out an RV park at a casino in Oklahoma, near the Texas border, because they always had space. I called the Winstar Casino RV park in Thackerville Oklahoma and she said that they definitely had . We weren't excited about the detour and we had no casinos in the summer plans, but we were stuck, so we went to Thackerville.
We were surprised to find that this RV park was REALLY nice. It was big and each pad had a nice green manicured 'lawn' next to it. There was a nice pool and Jacuzzi. It had an indoor activity center, dog park, etc. Even though we are early in our trip, it was the best place we've stayed so far and can't imagine there will be any others nicer. When we were checking in for 2 nights, the nice lady at the desk said that if we signed up for their player's club, we would get the first night free and a discounted 2nd night. "Ok," I said. She said when we got to the casino, check into the player club desk and they would give us some free play credits for signing up. I knew that Rob would not need any incentive to go to the casino, but it was still nice. We went for dinner at the casino. We had about a 45 minute wait so we walked around. After a few minutes, I could hear a 'Wheel of Fortune' slot machine calling my name. After being warned about having the kids too close to the casino games, we took turns sitting with them away from the games. Rob took the first 20 min. playing games and I took the next 20 minutes before dinner. Rob won $65 and I won $195. So, it turned out not to be such a bad detour after all.
