We are Sailing
Our Aussie Greek friend arranged for a taxi to take us into town to and eating house (probably owned by a relly)at 8.15pm. So the girls went and organised the washing, we went back to the boat to tidy up a few loose ends, then back to the showers etc to get ready for the taxi ride.
The taxi arrived in time, but once again I tried to hop in the wrong side. The driver was great, but stuffed if I know why they emblazon their roads with traffic signs as they never use them. He dropped us off at the end of the street where the restaurant was, then went back to get Stuart and Heather. We were greeted by a very friendly waiter, who shook our hands and showed us the way to the restaurant. A table for 6 was waiting for us all ready. Honestly we could not fault the hospitality of the Greek people since we have been here.
Stuart and Heather arrived, and too were greeted in the same manner as ourselves. We have deliberately set out to taste the local food, rather than imitations of ours or the Americans/English.Cheryl and Diane tried a local fish dish, which was really nice, Stuart and Heather both had lamb, and I too had lamb but mine was grilled. All the food was great. Brian likes tasting the wine, the reds were good, the white and Rose was not that flash.
There were no complaints, and we finished up, and a taxi was waiting to take us back to the Marina. This time all 6 crammed into the taxi. Men were nursing these petite little woman. (yeah right!) After a fair bit of laughter an carry on we made it back. The girls collected the washing from the machines in the laundry and we all went back to the boat. It has been a day of fun, but tomorrow it is a little more serious as we have about 70nms to cover (at least 10 hours). We should then be close to the opening of the Corinth channel. Can't wait.
