Hello from Indonesia, I'll be honest when I first arrived in Bali - I was a little bit disapointed. I wasn't that keen on the beaches and I found the people there to be rude and agressive, they constantly wanted to sell something. But on reflection I can say that Bali isn't so bad, the scenery inland is good and there is a lot of culture and history attached to such a small island. The heavy Hindu influence also gives the island a unique feel. The best beach by far is Kuta and this is also the place to go for a party. The surfing here is really good, consistant breaks every day. There are a lot of tourists here and not so many backpackers, so I've done more things by myself than anywhere else. Hiring a jeep or a bike is a good way to see the island. The Gilli Islands off the island of Lombok are awesome, very chilled compared to Bali, there are no motor vehicles allowed. I have also been on a boat trip to see the Komodo dragon which was certainly a highlight of my journey so far. Onwards to Sydney next, I'll have to get a job which will be a bummer !
