It was raining today so couldn't do much sight-seeing. Sat on the bus and went over to Sentosa Island but didn't see much, stopped at Clarke Quay on the way back (nightclub district) but pretty dead during the day. Managed to fit in a bit of shopping time but everything is too expensive in Singapore. In the evening it stopped raining so did a cruise on the bay and down the river - very peaceful. Walked home again (Wayne ran on the formula 1 track).

Today we started with a city tour on the Hop-on hop-off bus to get the lay of the land then spent the afternoon in Chinatown. In the evening we decided to head up to the observation tower at Marina Bay Sands to watch the sun set and the city light up. Stayed to see the laser/light/fountain show before walking across the bay to our hotel- a lovely way to finish the day.

After catching up on some sleep it was time to explore and guess where we ended up - the Long Bar at Raffles Hotel! A Singapore Sling cost $27 plus 10% service charge and 7% GST so pretty dear drinking. One will do methinks! Reminiscent of Lonestar Tavern here as everyone chucks the peanut shells on the floor.

Raining in London today but squeezed in a trip to Wimbledon Village this morning to go to Elms department store. While we were there we saw all the cyclists in the Ride London 100-mile event (24000 of them) - and a spill right in front of us. Headed to the West End in the afternoon to see The Committments at the Palace theatre. Great music and loved the chance to hear Irish accents again. Back in London and everyone wanted a chance to rest up after our 20 day tour! I set off on my own to the city to do some souvenir shopping and check out some more of London. Started at Leicester Square, then walked up to Picadilly Circus and all the way to Knightsbridge. Stopped in at all the classics - Fortnum & Mason's, Harvey & Nicholl's, Harrod's - food halls are amazing here and I was salivating just walking through!
