Our last day on tour today so spent most of the time on the motorway getting back to London. Our only stop was Stratford-upon-Avon. We had a group photo in front of Anne Hathaway's cottage and then went to Shakespeare's Birthplace. Back in London about 4:30 and farewelled our group before jumping in a car back to Collier's Wood. Home sweet home (our London home, that is). Wayne happy to see his 'local' again, and have the convenience of an off-license next door! ...

Travelled alongside the Tweed river this morning, took all the back roads until Alnwick. They were filming an episode of Downton Abbey at Alnwick Castle today, but only saw the horse and carriages. We had the Alnwick International Music Festival for entertainment as we ate our lunch. We watched an American hillbilly group doing some square dancing and then the bagpipes came on! We were a bit worried about today as we were dropped in Edinburgh and had to stay all day until after the tattoo (8am until midnight). It was raining as we left the hotel and we thought we would have a wet, cold day ahead of us. Keith, in his kilt, walked us up the Royal Mile and into the castle (still raining, but only light). Travelled south-east through Perth and over the River Tay then on to St Andrew's. Wayne very excited today to see the home of golf! We visited the Old Course and paid 50p to putt 18 holes (we only did a putt each just to take photos and video!) Wayne had to have 4 takes before getting the ball in, I putted it in straight away but nobody videoed me the first time! On to the shops to find our cheap souvenirs and some lunch before checking out the rest of the town....

We drove alongside Loch Ness (the largest volume of water but not largest in area) this morning and stopped for a photo opportunity but couldn't see much (raining again). No sign of Nessie, I looked in vain! Passed through Inverness, the capital of the Highlands, and crossed the River Ness before heading to the Cairngorms National Park.
