Our 4th entry for the journal.....and it's been a busy & exciting week for both of us...Tuesday the 6th we caught a bus @ 10.00 in the morning for Incheon (4 hrs.) to stay a few days with SongHi's eldest sister & family (two daughters & a very shy 15 year old son).Once again, we were spoilt by all & I got through the language difficulties with the help of a wonderful wife who was thrilled to see her sister after such a long time....
On Wednesday we caught the metro into Seoul for the day & wandered through the popular "Namsan Markets",where we found a couple of necessities at the expected bargains....Unfortunately though,I was told off for pointing my camera towards one of the street vendors, at which point I decided it would be safer for me to put the camera away to save any more embarassment from both sides...."Lesson Learn't"!!!..we walked up through Namsan Park and took the 15 min. stroll up to the Seoul Tower to get a birds eye view of the city. It's worth it on a good day & we were not disappointed. While up at the tower, what we did see which we thought was very unique, were literally thousands of locks of all shapes, sizes & colours padlocked to the barriers....These locks we learn't are a way of couples expressing their love for each other.
More shopping on Thursday...and as it was raining all day,it was nice to spend a few hours in a couple of the large shopping complex's dotted around the city of Incheon which we are told is the 4th largest city in Sth. Korea with Seoul obviously being the 1st....It was wonderful to see Song & her sister sharing & enjoying quality time together.....
On Friday afternoon we headed back into Seoul & met up with SongHi's niece JongMin & her husband WooSung who have a beautiful apartment in the city. They both prepared tea for us which we thought was unique & a change...."Homemade Pizza & Salad in a Korean house"..!! An itinary was planned out for our 2 day stay with back up plans in case of more expected rain..
Saturday started with SongHi purchasing a long awaited new pair of sunglasses in a new style..."you'll be happy to know Peter"!!!...a couple of camera batteries for my brother-in-law at less than half the price in Australia & a 500GB Samsung external hard drive for the MacBook & our travels. We had lunch at a very popular Chinese Restaurant "Malliseong" in town, famed for their speciality of chillied mussells...At 1530 hrs we were asked to pay our respects at a friend's wedding close by which happily gave me my first opportunity to witness my first Korean wedding...Very elaborate and interesting..!!..Tea was had with Song's eldest brother & his family before grabbing a coffee each from "Tom N Toms" on Daehak Ro street and ending the night at the Acapella Bar for an evening of unique & interesting music sung by a popular Korean Acapella group called "Polypony".It ended a wonderful & busy day with even a famous Korean song reworded somewhat & dedicated to a very embarrassed & shy SongHi.
Sunday consists of not so busy a day...starting with a viewing the changing of guard at Deoksu Palace and a visit to Kyoungbok Palace and then on to stay a night with Song"s eldest brother & family........
