Up early for first breakfast at 6. Well some of us where and some still had there iPad on UK time.
Once completed bowl of porridge into the Landrover for a 6:30AM safari around the reserve. First lesson, it may be hot during the day, very hot, however its very cold in the morning. At least we had shirts on, our little San Guide had only animal skin on and was shivering.
First encounter was with a Lion, this was a very impressive beast and was sat watching another Lion the other side of a fence. Fortunately he was considerably more interested in his rival than us, although our guide did say if we got out of the Landrover the situation may change, we decided not to test this theory.
Drive through the reserve watching lots of Zebra, guinea fowl, crocodiles and lots of different types of deer and antelope, or as the lion calls them, lunch.
Back to lodge for 10 and time for second breakfast before hitting the road.
Hit the road and drove along dirt tacks stopping along the way to look at 200 million year old dinosaur prints. The heat of the day making up for the cold morning.
Drove up to Otjiwarongo where we stopped for supplies, lots of water, 4 cheese pasta, mince, mystery sausages and what we thought was milk. Back onto tarmac for the run up to Okaukuejo through Outjo. Through the gate into the Etosha National Park back onto dirt roads. Finally arrived the Halali camp site just in time to get the tents up before night fall.
Off to the bar where we had Springbok Steak and a couple of beers. in bed by 9.
