Up earlier than normal as walk of shame at 5AM. However well worth it just stood for a while looking at the sky, no moon and not a cloud so stars and galaxies across the whole horizon, just jaw dropping.
Breakfast provided, but fortunatley it did consist of sausages and fried eggs, so all OK. Off on the road, may have got slightly lost and went through a little village of Soris Soris which was very interesting, if not set up for vehicles to drive through, hey ho we found a way out eventually and continued to Uis to purchase more diesel and supplies. Went into the local shop and where told the eggs have finished, not sure what was meant by finished but no eggs. Anyway bought some Bratwurst sausages while Rob engaged with the locals, he got talking with a local Boar who had retired from Windhoek to avoid the crime. Had a nice beer and mystery meat sandwich from the local café before loading up beer and hitting the road south to Spitzkopp.
Got checked in and booked on 3PM tour of Spitzkopp and the cave paintings. The we went off to explore the rock arch and climb around hill tops. Again photos will be posted soon showing your two heroes conquering peaks no white man has ever been up. Back to base camp and off in our vehicle with our new friend and guide Esso. Very interesting and saw many ancient rack paintings which transmitted information between the Nomadic tribes. Esso also taught us how to use the three additional sounds in their language so now we will be able to excite everyone when we return to Blighty with our clicking and sucking. Paid Esso ahead of everyone and dashed back to base cap to grab the best spot (i.e. Nearest the bar). The camp site is remote and basic, long drop toilet and one tap. Even with this pitch still a 20 min walk so stayed in the bar and dined on chicken burger and chips. Off to bed by 9
