Wednesday 14th March

Travelled most of the first part of the day on the bus and we had a stop just before sunrise so I was awake as the sun rose over the dessert and got some great pictures.

Arrived in Alice for about lunch time and the people at Annie's Place came and picked me uo from the coach station which was greatly apprciated as it was really hot. Such a warm welcom from the girls on reception too, quite a homely feel to the the place which made uo for the areas which seemed a little tired in places. When I checked into my room the girls were really chatty and gave me some great tips for when I take my trip to Ayres rock. One tip to take a fly net and one of the girls gave me theirs as they weren't going to need it any more, bonus! After their recommendation I went back to reception and booked my three day rock tour with Mulgas tour on Friday really looking forward to it.

Later that evening I went into the bar at Annie's with a girl from my room who wanted to get something to eat (I had already eaten). Great place with a buzzing atmospher and drinks are quite cheap too.

Thursday 15th March

Great nights sleep and had a lie in after traveling on the bus I needed it. Looked like it was going to be a hot day so though I would walk into town first thing and a girl from my room was going so said she would show me the way. It was so hot at 10.30am couldn't imagine what it would be like by midd day! HAd a wonder around the town which is quite small and it was my first experience mixing with the aborigional people who can be quite intimitading. They walk around and hang out in groups and shout at each other across the street. Then there are the groups who drink and generally I didn't think they would make me feel so uneasy. I made my way back to the hostel adn found a note on my room door to go to reception and they were moving me to the Saturday trip which I was slightly dissapointed with but its not like I was in a rush. Then by 2pm clouds started to appear in the sky and by 3.30pm there was a massive thunder storm and the rain came hurtling down.But it had been so hot and people stayed in the pool while it rained!!! Generally it then just carried on raining for the rest of the day and night!

Friday 16th March

Apart from everything looking abit greener today there were no other signs that there had been any rain at all!! Utill I had another walk into the town and a tree had fallen over in the night. The difference about the heat here is the humidity which I am not used to and it really tires you out. ONce I was back from town I tried to lie in the sun by the pool but it was just too hot! So after a hour I retreated to my airconditioned room which was alittle better!! So I got my small bag ready for my trip, which was not easy finding space for all the stuff coming out of it! So then got a shower so I wouldn't have to have one in the morning as we had to be ready fro 5.30am! And then went to the bar for my dinner. $5.00 for Camal Lasagne bargin, you got a good plate full too! Camal basically tastes of beef but it is much leaner with alot more taste to it but not as strong as game. Then back to my room far an early night.
