Day 5 Summary: Had a chill morning sipping coffee, eating fruit, & catching up on real-life communication. Take a 4 hour Bus ride from Pai back to Chiang Mai.
Slept hard last night after rafting. Woke up early and enjoyed the fact that we had nothing planned other to catch a bus at some point in the afternoon. It is so great here that you can travel at the drop of a hat. You don't have to book hotels, bus or train tickets in advance. Even domestic flights are not jacked up just a few days prior to the flight. Its total freedom to just go somewhere, walk the town, see a place you like, get a room then either stay for a while or get out of town if you dont like it. I dont know anywhere else you can travel like this. But then again, I haven't traveled outside the US much.
I spent the morning having coffee and fruit and catching up on email, blogging and facebook on a riverfront patio restaurant. We boarded our bus around 2pm for Chiang Mai. Our bus is actually a minibus, just slightly larger than a typical US minivan. We arrive at the bus stop to make sure we score a seat in the front to avoid getting car sick. The ride proves to be pretty easy. We sat next to a nice guy from Ethiopia in his mid 30s who spent several years living in Thailand in his 20s. He gave us some tips for Chiang Mai.
Upon arrival at the bus station, we hope into a truck outfitted with seats and covered truck bed along with 4 other people and are taken to our hotel, Roseate Hotel. During our walk to find diner, we came across a tour agent and booked Ziplining for Tuesday and a cooking class on Wednesday.
