We are enchanted with Tuscany after a day and a half of exploring small
Hill towns and wide open spaces. It is incredible here. Large rolling hills of green and vineyards of plenty, as well as beautiful little ancient stone and brick towns from centuries past. We are staying in San Giminano in an old farmhouse in what they call here an agritourismo. There is a family of winemakers here who own this land but also host us in a beautiful way. Hearty breakfast by day and long table dinner by night. Wine flows from their vineyard to our table and we are sitting on the hills overlooking their vines. It is a full moon!
We have visited the towns of San Giminiano, Volterra and Sienna all with their unique flavours. The views of Tuscany Are stunning. We see hills of green towered by sunny skies and fluffy clouds. Each town has their thing. The tall towers in San Giminano. The burnt Siena brick in Siena...the same colour of your crayon. And the old Etruscan amphitheater at Volterra. All these hill towns are walled. All serving up tourists fabulous wine and food, and the view is unforgettable!
We have just enjoyed a wonderful dinner at our agritourismo, with a private tour of the wine cellar and a long table dinner with the most delicious food. Cured meats And cheeses, handmade salads and desserts, and the wine, glorious wine. The crickets are beckoning sleep but my mind is wondering how? When all these glorious beautiful wonderful things are happening all around me....how? I know it will be a beautiful day tomorrow!!!!
