We have pulled into our last port of call at Agina Town. It is a bustling little harbour town with tourists arriving by the boat load from Athens. It is a harbour with fishing boats and cafés and the local product is pistachios. Our adventure on ATV's lead us to ancient ruins at theTemple of Athena. Ruins from 400BC. More marble pillars standing tall and crumbling slowly with erosion over time. We also drove thru the country side and saw so any little churches and then a humungous Greek church where the latest saint was sainted. Many make pilgrimage here to seek blessing and healing. The church was stunning with ornate gold embellishments inside and mosaics of Jesus and Mary. Outside Greek turrets, an architectural beauty.
Before arriving in the main harbour we spent the night at Perdika, a quaint little harbour town five miles south. There are typical things we have found in each harbour we have visited...tavernas and cafés serving the local fare. We have been able to walk off the back of the boat and be drinking our iced coffee within minutes while checking our email. It is an ancient world but modern in every way.
We return to Athens this afternoon to prepare for the journey home. It has been a great trip but we are tired and ready.
