In this second last blog we thought we would keep it english, so that the Australian people we stayed with could read along!
After some nice days in Katoomba and the surrounding area, we drove with the bus to Banella, where we were picked up by Jen & Mick, an Australian couple, who lives just outside Mansfield, which is about an hour drive from Banella. Alexander's mum had stayed with them when she was 18, so they were used to Alexander being noisy and jumping everywhere with all the energy he has, causing riots and burning down stuff (okay i might be overexaggerating a bit), but yeah the hospitality was overwhelming from the start. We soon took on the name of "The Danish Vikings". (Fierce and brutal and freaking sexy).
One of the first days was spent on horseback riding in the afternoon. Yeah it doesn't sound like us, but it was quite fun still. Never having ridden a horse before, i obviously picked it up very fast and was amazing at riding in the end. (I got thrown off the horse because it walked into an electric fence, but still.. All a part of the experience i guess).
The surroundings were filled with mountains and steep hills, so we decided to walk up the Timber Top, one of the mountains in the area. Even though we had some trouble keeping up with Mick (who just turned 70 last wednesday), we got up to the hilltop in the end (where the picture of me standing on the branch is from). Really awesome view.
Mount Buller was also climbed by Alexander and co., and resulted in a picture of him standing in the snow (!) on the top of the mountain. Having gone from Bondi Beach with 30 degrees to snow in Australia seemed really weird. But awesome nonetheless.
Other than that, the quad bike, belonging to Mick, was really popular and loads of fun. Definitely made some of the gardening we did a lot more fun!
An awesome week with relaxation in some of the most comfty beds we have ever slept in.
Peeeeaceeee!
