As we now enjoy the bliss of our evening I will highlight the doings of the day. Started off with not such a great outlook with large looming black clouds hovering over us at Ulverstone but we toddled off towards Penguin arriving in time for morning tea....how surprising. We have previously visited here and not much except driving along the side of Bass Strait with a railway line between us.. Through Burnie where we just drove thru, bit too industrial for our liking although looking more prosperous than on our last visit. We then went and explored Wynyard (tulip territory in season). Beautiful soil that had my man groaning in ecstasy would we could have an acres worth delivered to our paddock about 6 inches deep would be great. Then towards Boat Harbour sublimely beautiful beach with some great spots for free camping on the edge of the beach but very sought after. Many a van travelled the 20 kms in to find all spots gone and no hope of knowing when people were departing, about 8 spots in all I think but they were parked in sideways to avail themselves of the very best of views. Explored a bit more of that area prior to heading to Stanley for lunch. My goodness it's Monday and not many places open even the pub bistro closed due to power outage, same scenario on our last visit - a Monday but Australia Day so closed down a bit. We ended up on the wharf at a Seafood place, lovely food of baby abalone...hmmm not sure why anyone raves over this but then some crumbed Trevally and a deconstructed curry scallop pie - rather delicious. So only another 20kms onto Smithton where we are now staying for two nights in the most delightful cottage. We have a 180 degree view of the bay and further onto Bass Strait and our only neighbours are trees, although reading the guest book we should be joined by many creatures of the night. We have a spa bath on the balcony in front of a log fire overlooking this wonderful area and we have decided once again we don,t much care for them but we did pay for it so had to use it. Erkits just says its a huge waste of water...so romantic he is. Does he remember he proposed to me in one at Apollo Bay Victoria I suppose not may also have been a waste of water then also....never says I, the bubbles in my glass and in the spa all very special to me. We are waiting for magical sunset photos but the sun doesn't set till nearly eight so will have to add them tomorrow if any good.
All for today as my glass of wine needs my attention. Love to all who are paying attention, xxxxx
