Coalville - yup - that's right - Coalville....
Current mood: frustrated
O.K. So the saga continues.....Day 2 - actually, I count Sunday as Day 1 because Saturday only consisted of 2 hrs - so it doesn't really count as a travel day.
Now...when you're reading this - keep in mind that although these events happened on Sunday, it's now Tuesday as I'm writing this because I was WAY too tired to write on Sunday or Monday. So, having said that - I can't really remember very much of what happened on Sunday.
So.....DAY 1....SUNDAY....on the road by 7:00am - oh happy joy!!! after only about 3 hours of sleep due to the sex crazed animals next door, I got on the road from Sacramento (good riddance) and on my way I went. I ended up driving through 3 states today - California, Nevada & Utah. O.K. for the record - northern Nevada is EMPTY!!! There's NOTHING there. Don't get me wrong - I like the dessert as much as the next guy (or gal) but c'mon - I mean NOTHING. Every hill looks like the last one - every dune looks the same as the one 20 miles back....and every nut case thinking they're going to win big in the casino is still a nut case. And before you ask - no, I didn't get to the casino. I was too intent on driving through to UTAH!!! WOOOHOOO!!!!
Funny enough though Utah looks almost EXACTLY the same as Nevada - at least western Utah does anyway. Lots of salt flats of course - and I mean LOTS of salt flats. My gosh there's salt everywhere!!! Who needs to buy salt in Utah? Just hit the flats & you've got enough salt to last a lifetime.
So here I am driving along and my handy-dandy GPS is telling me that to my right is a nice sized body of water. I'm looking to my right & there is no body of water - at all - anywhere. I look back at my GPS & it's still saying that there's water beside me & I'm looking beside me & there's no water. Just salt as far as the eye can see!!! Then I realize that those salt flats USED to be water millions of years ago so they're still classified as bodies of water. YAY!! My brain kicked in & decided to work - wooohooo!! Kids, take note...that was your science lesson for the day. :)
Like I said....this leg was VERY uneventful. Now, if something interesting or exciting did happen - I truly can't remember. I almost want to say that something interesting did happen because I was thinking about writing it down on Sunday but now I can't remember so I'm going to be a pooper & skip it.
I was looking for a place to stay for about 30 minutes on Sunday night when I finally came to po-dunk town 8274 - Coalville, UT. Yup....that's right. Coalville. What do you think they used to do in Coalville? Take a guess - c'mon....you know you want to. Yeah....exactly.
Super 8 motel to the rescue!!! And I got a good deal too because I was checking out before the crack of stupid AM!!! Oh happy joy to be waking up with the roosters and chickens!!! :) I love my life!!! Granted, it was a very nice & VERY clean room. And joy of joys - NO CRAZY SEX PEOPLE NEXT DOOR!!! I actually got to sleep!!! And there was a free breakfast too - a real one...with warm food & everything!!! When you get to be my age - it's the little things that count.
So, after breakfast I headed out, once again - in the infamous words of Willie Nelson ... "On the Road Again"....for those of you who have NO idea who Willie Nelson is....LOOK IT UP!!! Leaving the Ville of Coal behind me...I trudged on forward to the next lovely motel with a number in the name several hundred miles away.....
And what lay ahead of me you ask???? Wyoming and the blasted dreaded NEBRASKA!!! THE STATE THAT NEVER ENDS - DAMN YOU NEBRASKA - DAMN YOU!!!!! I will not be bested by Nebraska - I will defeat the flat straight lines of this never ending great big wheat field!!! Mmmwwwaaaaa!!!!!!!! BRING IT ON!!!!!!
