Vickys travels
Hi everyone finally managed to get my 500 photos uploaded so that should keep you all busy for a while!!
So since I last mailed I've been to airlie beach which is the gateway to the whitsundays a group of islands approx 30 mins from the mainland. The main attraction of the area is to take a sailing boat for a few days and sail round the islands but as still little scared of boats limited this to a day trip crusing round and having lunch on board!!
We stopped at 2 islands for some sightseeing. This included hamilton which is very expensive with marina full of lux boats where I sat and had coffee with 2 wild parrots!! and then on to whitehaven beach which is famouse for its long white sandy beach and clear water!!
From airlie I moved on to rockhampton which is beef capital of australia. The town is not much in its selft but was my overnight bed before heading off at 6.30am (forgotten what its like to get up at this time!!) to myella farm for my 3 day 2 night farm stay!!
This was prob the best bit of my trip so far as got up early every day to cook my breakfast on the campfire before milking cows/rounding up horses etc. Then it was off for anywhere between 3-5 hours of riding round the farm full of wild kangeroos where we had to muster cattle!! Then after a hugh lunch it was on moterbikes which I can now ride!! Was bit scary at first and I'm not the best at changing the gears!! Must also remember not to pull the excelorator when you get excited!! opps!! so left there extreemly tired and well fed with lots of stories!!
Then it was on to great kepple island which I hadnt heard of before but was recomended to go to. It was so quite and lovely, no electricity after 1am until the morning so most peop0le are in bed by 9pm!! I walked to 2 deserted beaches with white sand and clear water. Then one evening I went to sit on te beach to watch the sunset and 2 wild dolphins came right up to the shoreline swimming back and forth to our amusement!! Very cool!!
After this i moved on to a town called 1770 (so named because thats when captin cook crashed his ship there and it needed to be fixed!!) Anyway was ment to stay for 2 nights but ended up staying for 6!! Stayed at great hostel called 'cool bannans' was the best so far as despite being 8 people per room was all very clean and new and posh!! met loads of lovely people there who also ended up extending their trip as we all liked it so much. Had parties on the beach, spent easter day sunning myself on the lovely beach and during the 2 days it rained spent the day watching dvds in the hugh living room and having my face painted with clay!! Also have now learnt 2 new card drinking games which I have already tried out on new people 'spoons'!!!!
From here I moved on to hervey bay whicgh was my stopover for the night before I did my fraser island trip.
The trip was amazing. We were in a group of 5 girls and 6 boys and were given a 4x4 with camping equipent then sent off to this island to drive round and camp on the beach!! Luckly most of the group got on(most of the time!!)have heard stories of groups falling out!! you cant swim in the sea due to sharks but there are lakes inland with such clear fresh water and surrounded by white sand as the island is just one big sand dune!! You have to drive either on the beach or on these sand tracks inland which is a bit scary and we did nearly topple over once and get cut off by the sea!! But all in all was excellent!!
Now in a place called noosa which is a luxuary holiday destination of rich australians so full of expensive boutiques and trendy resturants and bars!! Amazing waves at the beach and yesterday I went and visited steve 'crikey' irwins australia zoo with its croc shows and koalas etc etc (didnt see steve though!!) Ended up staying here longer than ment to as its so nice!! but off to brisbane tomorrow to pick up my new flight tickets!!
Anyway hope you all well - enjoy the photos!!
Love
