Vickys travels
Hi everyone!!!
So since my last update I've had a busy couple of weeks!! After Phuket I took a 20 hour bus journey down through southern thailand then a boat trip across to the island of langkawi in malaysia. It was journey from hell and involved an over night bus trip which dropped me off at some bus station in southern thailand at 4 in the morning where I had to wait till 9am before being picked up and taken by mini bus to the ferryport for my trip over to langkawi. I did however meet some lovely tuk tuk drivers who looked after me during that time and provided me with about 20 cups of coffee!! So not all bad!
It was def worth the journey though as Langkawi is just lovely. I stayed in 2 beach huts right on the beach (see photos). The beach was really quite in the day(H there were hugh jelly fish one about as big as me!! Not nice!!) and nightlife is very low key there although I did managed to seek out the hot spots!! - good old reggee bar!!
I met some lovely people from england, wales, france and italy on my first night out who made me stay out drinking till early hours of the morning so managed to miss the only trip I had booked during my stay the next day!! opps!! (As promised photos attached guys - hope your enjoying your stay in thailand!!)
Thanks to the german guys I also met and who saved me from scary joe!!
So after a few days of soaking up the sun I headed off on a flight to KL.
KL was so different to everywhere I've been so far. I stayed in chinatown which is a hub of bustling street vendors selling knock off designer goods and food vendors. But then 10 mins away you have the petronas towers which is ment to be the tallest builing in the world and beneath it is the largest shopping centre I've ever been to full of the likes of tiffinys, gucci etc etc (and not fake ones!!) Needless to say I spent about 4 hours in there seeing as I hadnt done proper shopping in about 6 weeks!!
I also went on a trip to the genting highlands which is outside of KLand about 2000m above sea level! (so pretty high!) it was basically built as a hill station in the 60's and now has 6 hugh hotels and an indoor and outdoor theme park (which if slightly dated are still quite impressive to be on a roller coster at this hight and in the clouds!!) It also has the longest cable car ride to the top in asia.
So after KL i made my way down to Melaka which is between KL and singapore where I'm headed tomorrow. Its a very historical town which has been over the centurys under dutch, portugese, british and japanese ownership so the architecture is quite amazing(see photos!!) I've met a swiss guy here last night so hes my new best friend!! so alls good.
Hope your all well, sorry not been very good at email lately as been sooooo busy!!!
Off to oz on the 8th march so will send further further update then.
Love to you all.
Vicky
