WHERE VIV'S AT...
Hi again (and so soon). It's nice to have a few days in one place and it gives you time to catch up on this kind of stuff and get the washing done. Had another night drinking last night, staying in Ao Nang (which is effectively Krabi) is great and feels like a holiday rather than travel but that's quite nice. We've spent a lot of time moving around over my first few days and it was a bit hectic meeting with the group, negotiating public transport, setting the alarm to get up in time as we've had early starts - now is bliss. Today we took a boat to Ko Phi Phi which was stunning but a bit daunting considering what happened there just under a year ago but they seem to be getting everything there back together and it looks like the tourists are coming back gradually. We also toured some of the surrounding islands away from the "crowds". The beachs are stunning and the water is so clear and like a bath and it's great snorkeling . We did not get the sun just cloud but I've got a good tan from being on the boat and my skin is all a bit hot now (wish I'd packed after sun).
Tonight we're going for Italian food - I know...with all this wonderful Thai food why do we want Italian, well it's more for the red wine but I do fancy a pizza for a change to rice and noodle. Oh, the best thing I've eaten in Thailand so far was fried fish in the National Park. I was expecting small bits of fish in batter but got the whole shark (it was that big) which was fried in one piece and tasted like nothing I've eaten before and so so yummy.
Tomorrow I'm trying Kayaking for the first time - I've booked a 1/2 day in the mangroves and then to Ao Thalan and to Hong Island so I hope to get the pictures up here probably tomorrow as I should have time and after that I will be out of touch for a while as going in to Malaysia and off to a homestay on an island. My next card will likely come from KL when I'm there for my birthday (and then you can all see my birthday pictures). The big coincidence is that Alice a girl on my tour has her birthday on the 1st November too (she's going to be 21) so it's a big big night out and we're going to do bad taste dressing and then try to get into a KL night club (wish us luck).
Btw, thanks everyone for all the messages. I promise I will reply to all of you soon but when you have an hour in an Internet cafe you can only do so much. I love reading them so keep sending - and some please tell me what's happening in Corrie.
I'll sign off now as off for dinner and a bucket of Samseng - those ex-travellers out there will know what I'm talking about ;-)
