WHERE VIV'S AT...
Well we survived Christmas with Rudolf and had a good time too. The Aussies don't really do the Christmas thing like back home but I think that's more to do with it being too hot to be bothered - and boy was Christmas day hot. We spent Xmas Eve eve in a local bar on Rainbow Beach (decided to spend the festive season here as we loved the place so much) listening to a live band who were a very very bad version of status quo (you can't have it all...). We'd already done our shopping for the barbie and also purchased some stupid, but great, Raindeer head gear for the big day (photos up soon so you can all laugh) which seemed appropriate considering we we're travelling with Rudolf - you can call us Rudolfettes!!..
Anyway Christmas Day consisted of breakfast on the beach followed by a dip in the ocean whilst wearing our raindeer headbands, then it got too hot and too sandy so we made our way back to the campsite swimming pool to chill out for the afternoon where the temperature just proceeded to get hotter and hotter and there was still no relent from the heat in the evening when we barbied our red snapper for dinner (wearning our raindeer head gear of course) and drunk our bottle of champers and ate Kirsten's version of apple crumble with hot custard (wonderful). And then the thunderstorm came and boy was it a biggie - the campervan rocked in the strong wind, the sky went bright red and was littered with fork lightening and the rain came slowely and steadily, and then as I was about to call home the pay phones packed up - but still it did not cool the air. A Christmas I'll remember even though it did not feel like Christmas one bit (well apart from when we wore the raindeer headbands).
Well now we've given Rudolf back (sob sob!!) and Kirsten is on here way home to Holland via Sydney for a few days and I've landed in Brisbane for 2 nights before sampling the delights of WA and meeting up with me old mucker Lindsay for a beer or ten (be prepared Linds...)
Enjoy the rest of Christmas everyone and I'll be in touch soon.
