WHERE VIV'S AT...
Hey have you missed me - I feel like I've been away from this site for yonks but guess it's just been a week.
Well I'm here in Sydney and boy did I have a great time getting here. I left Melbourne on Tuesday and was really sad to say bye to Chris and Bruce - they have been complete stars and really looked after me for my time in Victoria (can't wait to see you back in Adelaide guys - and take care).
Well I had a few options to get to Sydney. I could have flown but bored with that, could have bused but 15 hours on a greyhound did not sound appealing. I very nearly took the train but in the end I opted to take a 4 day tour so I could see a bit more of this great country and I'm so glad I did although at first when I saw the bus I was in shock. Reason?? Well I booked my tour with a company called Autopia and was waiting with Chris at my designated pick-up (at 6.30 in the morning!!) and then the Oz Experience bus turned up so I said to Chris "that's not mine - that's the kindergarten tour" but Chris said it would be worth me checking as no other bus around and it had gone 6.30 so I checked and bloody hell I was on the Oz Experience as Autopia had passed their bookings over - sheer panic (those in the know about the Oz Experience realise what I'm talking about). But thankfully the tour turned out to be Adverture Tours who own Oz Experience and they just happened to have the Oz Ex logo painted on the bus (phew!!) and I was not the oldest.
Well we left Melbourne and made our way to Wilsons Prom with Dolly Parton as a sound track (Luke our guide loved her). We did some walking and then stayed in Foster in a carravan site. By now I'd met Belinda (a Bristol lass with a big thirst) and was so glad she was on the bus as I had a mate and drinking buddy. Next day hungover we were early on the bus to make our way to Snowy River High Country via Gippsland and Ninety Mile Beach (guess why it's called this) and walked some more and stayed in this wonderful little buddist reserve just west of the snowy mountains and ate great veggie food and got drunk around the campfire. Ok next day the Snowy Moutains and how beautiful is that place - another Ozzie wow on my hands - we followed the Snowy River out of Victoria and into NSW and Kosciusko National Park to Lake Jindabyne for some water sports and more walking and stayed in a great hotel with the best moutain and lake views ever (it snows here in winter so it's a big ski resort but obviously'we're now in summer). Then yesterday we made our way to Sydney via Canberra where we visited Parliament House (yes Canberra does look boring) and we got to Sydders about 6.30 yesterday and Belinda and I made our way to our hostel in the CBD then made our way to a pub up the road then got drunk. Yes I have a hangover again....
So, today we're off to explore the harbour area and just take it easy and go for a nice dinner tonight at a fish restaurant that Harry's recommend (it better be good Harry).
Anyway photos will be up soon - can't seem to do them at this internet cafe so will try another within the next couple of days.
Bye for now - Sydney awaits me
