Day 46 Cruise Number 2
Packed up and ready to go we called a taxi to take us to the temporary cruise terminal. We managed to go through immigration and check-in quite quickly. We only had about half an hour to wait before they began boarding the ship.
The Veendam is about the same size as our previous ship, Zaandam, but the way they number the decks is different. We are once again on the Main Deck but this time it is deck 5 whereas last time it was deck 3. On the Lido deck (11) there is the buffet restaurant and the swimming pool. The pool in the centre of the deck is once again under a roof that can be opened. On the stern of the ship there are three small hot tubs instead of an outdoor pool as on the Zaandam
After exploring the ship, we headed back to the Lido deck for some lunch. We then headed back to our room to find some of our bags had arrived. The afternoon was spent arranging photos for the blog (this is the most time consuming part of the blog uploads) so when in port at Quebec we would be able to get a few days' worth of blog done at the ports free wifi.
We once again are in the second sitting for dinner and are sitting with a lovely couple who come from Dallas, Texas. Hopefully it was only first night settling in but the wait staff were very slow. As a result, dinner took a lot longer than it should have. After dinner we went to the show that introduced the performers we would see during the coming week. Surprise, surprise, the land based tour coordinator is a Tasmanian (with only one head). Jeremy was very nice and he assisted us with several land based trips, particularly around Boston. Importantly he was of great value when we were after a "flat white" on our Boston venture.
After the show we rugged up and did several laps of the Promenade Deck. Once again 4 laps equal a mile. Whilst walking we were able to stop and watch as one pilot departed the ship and another came aboard. As we came close to the bridge at Trois Riviere we headed up to the top deck for a closer look as we passed beneath.
It was then bed time.
