Well folks, in a few hours time I'll be getting on a plane in the first leg of the trip home to Melbourne. The journey is over, but what I have seen and learnt during this trip will stay with me forever.
Over the last couple of days we've been starting to analyse some of the initial evaluation findings and presenting them to WV staff including ADP Managers, Regional Managers and project staff. You can see everyone in the picture above. After the presentation, Julie, Thurza and I headed off to Hoi An for 24 hours of R&R, which I have really enjoyed. This morning we enjoyed a western breakfast at a cafe, but I realised that my stomach is not used to eating big meals after two weeks of plain rice, greens and a little bit of tofu!!!
The only thing to put a dampener on this trip is that I've had a shocking cough and sore throat for about a week, but there hasn't really been time to just rest and recouperate, so I'm really looking forward to getting home and some cough lollies and syrup!!
There is so much I've learnt on this trip but one of the greatest thing I've seen and appreciated is the fantastic work that World Vision is doing in assisting those with disabilities in Vietnam. The committment of the staff to helping those in their ADP is unquestionable and we have rigorously evaluated this project to ensure that funds are spent wisely and not wasted.
It has been such a priviledge to be a part of this trip. For those of you at World Vision, I have so much to tell you and show you about our work here! I look forward to sharing it with you all when I get back.
Thanks for reading my blog, I've enjoyed sharing the journey with you each day. To all of you who sent messages and comments, thank you so much. I'm sorry I didn't get to respond to them all personally. To be honest, most days I got back to the hotel room and crashed and used the time before breakfast the next morning (usually about 5-6am) to update the blog, so I haven't had a lot of time to respond to comments. But, it was great to hear from all of you and your reflections on my trip and it really encouraged me along.
Love to you all xxx
