I didn't have a good sleep last night at all. I took ages to get to sleep then I was awake for hours in the middle of the night. It was very hot, even though we had the fan on all night, it was far too hot for me to sleep.
We had our alarms set early this morning, to be able to make a few stops on the way back to Perth. Phoebe wanted to be home for around 1pm in order to get a few things done before she leaves tomorrow for Wiluna. We went to Bunker Bay beach first AND guess what..?! I drove!!!!!!! It was so much fun to drive again, most cars in Australia are automatic but Nicole's is manual and since Phoebe doesn't have a manual licence I offered to share the driving with Nicole. It was quite a drive down to bunker bay, and to be honest it was just another beach like all the others I had been too. I didn't go for a swim and just did some sunbathing while the other two went for an early morning dip :).
We then headed north. Because we didn't have time on our way down to stop at Busselton Jetty, we stopped there this morning and did some snorkelling. It was beautiful and one of the longest jettys in Australia apparently. I managed to get some really good photos, it was super hot while we were walking along the jetty, so it was really nice to get into the water when we got to the end. Nicole and I did some snorkelling, but there wasn't much to see. Nicole spotted a stingray but didn't tell me about it until we were back in the car, thank goodness I didn't know about it! We took some cool photos jumping off the jetty before heading back for a famous Simmos ice-cream :)
We noticed a helicopter twice going up and down the shore, looking for sharks. At the time we didn't think anything of it, until Nicole's Mum told us there had been a two and a half metre Tiger Shark spotted at the Dunsborough jetty around the time we were in the sea 20km up the coast at Busselton. Shark attacks have been quite common on the west coast this summer and apparently Tiger Sharks are the dangerous ones. Eak!!!
We arrived back to Perth in perfect time for Phoebe at 1.30pm, so we dropped her at her house and I collected my rucksack etc as I was staying at Nicole's house tonight, since Phoebs is leaving at 5am tomorrow. Nicole's house was so cool, and chilled out just like Nicole :) I met her sister Frankie who was lovely, and her folks. They made me feel so welcome it was so nice. The best bit about her house was their shower was outside hehe, it was ace!
We spent the afternoon chilling, I managed to check in for my flights tomorrow etc and we watched the start of the Murray/Djokovic Australian Open semi final. Our plan for the evening was to have a picnic in Kings Park before watching Midnight in Paris at the Moonlight cinema. Nicole and I made a tattie salad, pasta salad and carved a cooked chicken for our picnic in the park. I was super excited about going to the moonlight cinema, we had cold ciders in the cool box and we were all set. We picked up Phoebe on route and headed to Kings Park to find out that the cinema had been cancelled. I was gutted.... Anyways we still had our picnic in another area of the park (bearing in mind Kings Park is 400 hectares there were plenty of places to choose!) which looked over the CBD.
It was a lovely tea, with such a pretty view. Nicole's mum kept giving us text updates on the tennis score, and when Murray won the tie break in the 3rd set we packed our things as quick as we could to go back and watch the remaining sets. Phoebe wasn't interested in the tennis at all, but Nicole and her family were totally into it, plus they were all supporting Murray :)
It was so exciting when it went to the 5th set, and Murray came back from 3 games down to make it 5-5 in the 5th set. We were all cheering and sitting on the edge of our seats, Murray gave him a fair run for his money but in the end Djokovic won. It was a great match to watch and in the end it was quite good the film was cancelled.
I am loving being able to have a night with Nicole, it was super hot and humid though, so we had to have another shower before we went to bed. Nicole's didn't have air conditioning so we had the fan on all night. I packed my bag all ready for my move up to Asia tomorrow!
I am so glad I decided to come over to Perth, and can't believe it's my last night in Australia. It has been great seeing the girls again, and hopefully I will manage to see Nicole and Frankie in Europe in June/July when they come across. My time is going far too fast, suppose thats what happens when your having the time of your life!!! xxx
