I was wide awake at 6.45am... why?! I have no idea but I was. I got up and started to go through all my stuff throwing out things that I'm not needing anymore and that I certainly won't be taking home. I had a shower and finally washed my hair properly after the trek and put make-up on so I felt a million times better. Lauren and I had breakfast at 9am and our airport transfer was picking us up at 10.30am, well that was until Alex and Rochelle went and changed it to 10am as they wanted to be there in plenty of time. That then meant I had to rush to get my bag packed as my stuff was all over the room haha.
It only took 10 minutes to get to the Chaing Mai Airport and our flight wasn't until 12.10pm so we had a while to push in. We looked through our photos that we had both taken in the last 3 weeks and just chatted, time passed quickly and next we knew we were boarding the flight. It was an hour and 20 minute flight down to Bangkok with Air Asia and the two of us just newsed the whole time. By the time we got our bags, grabbed a subway and then figured out what sky train and subway train we needed to get, our time was flying by. We wanted to go and check out the Bangkok shops in the afternoon but it was 4pm by the time we arrived at the Bangkok Centre Hotel where my new tour was starting from. Lauren booked in for a night there too, since Nikki, Liz, James and I were all staying there tonight as part of our next tours. First on my to do list was to get my bag of stinking washing into a laundry somewhere. The hotel was the only option as we weren't in walking distance to any other laundrettes, it was going to be expensive but it was really needing done.
I was starting the Southern Thailand G Adventures tour today and our new group meeting was at 6pm. Nikki was on another G Adventures tour and so was Liz and James so we all had meetings at 6pm. All five of us met up in the lobby of the hotel around 5pm and got caught up, James had been to hospital in Bangkok as he had also got food poisoning the same night as me but he was starting to get better.
My new tour guide was called Bowling and there were 14 of us in the group. The group I was joining had just been to Chaing Mai and the Hilltribes so 8 of them all knew each other so it was funny joining into an already formed group. The itinerary for the next week sounded good, and they were all going out for a group dinner and drinks tonight. I decided against going with them as I only had a day and a half in Bangkok and wanted to see the sights so Lauren and I went shopping!!! It probably wasn't the best idea... ditching the group 30minutes after I met them but to be honest I just couldn't be bothered with the 'getting to know you' questions and wanted to spend my last night wi Lauren now that we were both feeling so much better.
For some reason I was really hyper and so was Lauren. We got a tuk tuk straight to the MBK famous 5 floor Thai style shopping centre and it was huge. It was inbetween a shopping mall and a market, you still had to haggle with the price but they were close to proper shops without doors. We went for food first and found somewhere that had western style food since we were both being very cautious of what we were eating. I had a baked tattie wi cheese and broccoli which was really fine. Then it was shopping, I had a list of things I wanted to get and still had some souvenirs I needed to get but it wasn't the place to get presents :(
I had a look for a new handbag but didn't see anything I liked until I went into one shop and I loved them all. All the fake Jimmy Choo and Mulberry bags were real leather etc so I got this brown Jimmy Choo bag that I loved and a small black mulberry one :) I was super chuffed with my purchases. Lauren bought this gorgeous pink and purple leather purse that was really nice too. The shops were open till 10pm so after the MBK we walked down the road to the Central World Plaza which was full of expensive and proper shops. Lauren was on the hunt for a new rucksack so we checked out all the sports shops but they were all really expensive, she found one but it was £170 so she decided to think about it and come back tomorrow if she wanted it. We found a Next, Miss Selfridges, Zara, Karen Millen etc etc but the prices were all the same as home. We then found a Marks and Sparks... and we raced each other to find the Percy Pigs :) along with some white chocolate raisins!!! Can you tell that we were both feeling so much better.
The traffic was horrendously busy but we managed to get a taxi back to the hotel at a reasonable price. We both just went for an early night, when I went to my room I was sharing with someone from my new group because her rucksack and things were there but she wasn't back yet. I had some wifi that I had bought earlier so was texting Holly, Pamela and Jen for a while before I fell asleep.
I really can't believe how quickly the end of my trip is coming round :( It's crazy how time flys when your having fun xxx
