Maybe 4 and a half hours ain't enough sleep to have before spending 20hours either in airports or on a plane. Oopsy. Anyways it was still worth it.
I was up at 7am, showered, hair straightened and packed by 8am! I woke the rest of the girls in the dorm though, with my hair dryer and turning on the lights so I could manage to see to be able to pack. They weren't very happy but thats the joys of living in a dorm!!!
I met Phoebe, Nicole and Sandy for breakfast at 8.30am and to say our goodbyes. They came to the hostel first then we found a really nice bakery on Kloof Street. It passed so quickly and before I knew it the time was 9.40am and I was getting the airport shuttle at 10am.
I'll be honest I did shed a tear when I said our goodbyes which was actually stupid because I'm going to be seeing them both in 4 weeks time in Perth :) It's gonna be so much fun.
I was absolutely exhausted by the time I got to the airport but I managed to check in real quick and got widow seats on both flights. I lay down on some seats for a good hour before my flight to Johannesburg but didn't manage to sleep.
On the flight to Jo'berg I ended up sitting next to a 76 year old lady who told me her whole life story but in fairness I told her all my travelling stories. We chatted for the whole flight. I knew all about her broken ankle, the amount of pins that were in it and that this was her first flight since her operation. When we landed in Jo'berg we had to disembark the plane by the stairs, well... She hadn't been able to go up or down stairs since her operation and of course she was stubborn and refused airport assistance! I think she would have tumbled to the bottom if I didn't offer to help. She was so cute, I took all her bags plus my bags, and supported her left side to be able to help her down the steps. Of course she had a stroke previously as well so her left side was completely dense. I felt like I was back at work, looking after an elderly stranger haha.
Anyways my time was very short in Jo'berg and by the time I had got off my flight, bought a couple things in duty free (alcohol for Clark and Neil's Christmas, that I'm hoping they're gonna share :D ) and walked to the gate for the Sydney flight they had started boarding. Claire who had travelled on the ATC truck through Africa with us, was on the same flight to Sydney but I couldn't see her at all. She was on the later flight from Cape Town to Jo'Berg so I thought she might have missed the Sydney flight.
It was exactly a 12 hour flight to Sydney, and I was super excited about seeing Adz, even if it was just going to be 20 hours together before he flew home. Claire just managed to get the flight on time, and she came to find me as I had given her my seat number so she could try and sit close by. She was totally stressed when she got to me though, it was fun having someone I knew on the flight :)
Let's hope I manage to get a good sleep on the flight so I am ready to party with Adz and Clark as soon as I'm off the plane xxx
