Ok so after a late one last night, I had the longest long lie on my trip :) and slept till 12.15pm. It was the best sleep ever! When I eventually got up, I did a load of washing and checked in for my flight tomorrow etc. Hannah left in the afternoon to fly to Bali, so we said our goodbyes but forgot to get her to write in my wee book which was quite annoying. I then went and met Lisa and Rachel at the Singapore Flyer which is a 'London Eye' basically.
It was an amazing view from the top, and you could see right over the harbour area. The skyline was just full of high rise buildings, it was pretty impressive. It took half an hour to go round, but it passed real quick. We then had a walk over to the marina and into the Marina Bay Sands shopping mall to cool off from the heat. It was 5pm and I hadn't had anything to eat today, so the three of us sat down in a gourmet burger restaurant for dinner, or for me breakfast/lunch and dinner all rolled into one :) We ordered tattie wedges to share for a starter, that had mango chutney, chilli sauce, garlic and cheese on them. Well I have never eaten something so strong with garlic ever!!! They were lovely but me... Did my mouth stink or did it stink, I couldn't pop the mints quick enough haha. We then headed back to our hostels to change and get ready for going out tonight.
Lisa was going to meet up with a girl that was in her class at Cults Academy, who had been living in Singapore for 3 years. Since it was my last night, I was defiantly going to the Marina Bay Sands Hotel to go up onto the boat structure at the top to see the view. Lisa and Rachel also wanted to do this, so we decided to meet her friend Ali there. WELL... Ali told us to take our swimming things and we would go swimming in the world popular infinity pool. It was well known around the hostels you can't go swimming there unless your a resident in the hotel, so the three of us were very dubious whether or not we were actually going to get a swim, and refused to get our hopes up. We knew you have to pay $20 to be able to go along the walkway next to the pool... Unless you are staying at the hotel, then things are different.
We met Ali in the lobby of the 3rd tower of the Marina Bay Sands, 5 star hotel around 8ish and boy was it fancy! Basically it turns out that Ali was staying in this hotel tonight and for the following 3 nights, so we were actually getting to go swimming in the infinity pool!!!! How crazy was this. To cut a long story short, she had been living with her folks for the last 3 years and on Saturday her folks were moving to Dubai so as a treat the 3 of them were spending their last nights together in this hotel. So it was a total fluke that we were in Singapore at the same time as she was staying there.
OK so the infinity pool, what can you say... It was unbelievable. The pool just went straight to the edge and you looked right over the Singapore Skyline. It was gorgeous all lit up at night and lasers shown into the sky from different buildings everywhere. We took loads of photos on my waterproof camera and ended up spending the whole evening chillaxing in the pool and in the jacuzzi. The jacuzzi was also right on the edge of the building, it was a half moon shape and had a glass wall between the water and edge, so you got another amazing view. We were given gorgeous huge white towels and robes, and treated like we were actually staying in the hotel. Some of the sun loungers were half submerged in the swimming pool, so it would be an amazing place to sunbath during the day. We were there till 11pm and had turned to prunes by this stage. Ali was so nice, and it was really interesting to here about her lifestyle out here.
The four of us then headed to the food court that was part of the hotel, as Ali hadn't had tea yet. I was keen to then go back to the top to have a drink in the Ku Dé Ta club lounge, that was the bar next to the infinity pool but the other girls didn't want too, so we just got taxi's back to our hostels. It would have been an expensive drink up there, and since I had a flight to catch in the morning it was probably best to get a good sleep.
What an unbelievable night that wasn't expected. We couldn't thank Ali enough when we said bye and what a way to spend my last night in Singapore!!! Now roll on Asia tomorrow folks xxx
