Well today has been affa fine. Margaret was looking pretty tired yesterday, so I made it clear that I was happy to have a day at home and spend time relaxing. I had my blog to catch up on and I wanted to mend a few of my clothes.. Yes I actually got the needle and thread out and took up a hem etc.
After breakfast Mum phoned to talk about their trip to New Zealand, I had tried to find information on bus tours from the travel agents here but they weren't up to speed on trips in their own country so best if Mum goes to Trailfinders in Aberdeen. Robyn had popped in by at that time too so Mum got to speak to both Margaret and Robyn for a short time. I put a load of washing on and then Margaret and I had a walk down to the local shops, as she needed to go to the bank and post office before she goes away on her holidays on Monday for 2 and a half weeks to Nelson. She has a male friend George who she is going to stay with in Nelson, who has been down to Invercargill on a couple of occasions. I managed to get a new hair brush and some toiletries that I was needing. It was such a lovely day and really quite hot, we got some pastries from the bakery for our lunch before heading back to the house.
We just had a really nice afternoon at home, I got all my washing dried in no time at all outside, all 4 pieces of clothing sewn back together :) and my blog written. We were having a roast dinner tonight with May so we prepared all the vegetables (obviously all home grown in either Margaret's garden or Robyn's!!!) and put the roast on in the middle of the afternoon.
Of course we had afternoon tea :) I am loving my cups of tea here...! And I showed Margaret most of my travelling photos on my iPad while we had another cuppa. It is really lovely to be back visiting Margaret, and I am so glad Mum and Dad are coming here in a months time!
May came round about 6pm and the three of us had a sherry that Adam had bought Margaret while he was here in December. That's the second night in a row having a sherry before tea and it was pretty good! Ooo check me sewing and drinking sherry today, you would think I'm in my 80's too hehe.
Margaret had cooked a lovely leg of lamb roast dinner with all the freshly grown veg and mint sauce. It really was sooo yummy, the lamb just melted in your mouth, then we had apple struddle for pudding followed by cup of tea and some of Margaret's home baking!!! Yes diet WILL start again on Friday Victoria!!!!!!
It was a gorgeous summers evening, the sky was so clear and it was so still and peaceful. After all the dishes were done we had a walk around the garden and took some photos. As always the garden was just full of colour and picturesque. It was a lovely evening sitting newsing and I felt like I had eaten enough for the whole week. We had an early night after May left as we were going on a road trip tomorrow!!!!
The Henderson relations really are amazing! Good night Invercargill xxx
