We started the day with an early morning game drive in the Chobe National Park. So it was an early alarm at 5am! It was surprising the animals we did manage to see, after we were told it might be limited viewing after the cooler temperatures and rain, as most animals migrate at times like this.
We were back to camp at 10am where Chris had prepared brunch which was egg in a hole and so yummy!!
Our transit day today wasn't too bad as it was only 6 hours. We headed up the Elephant high way, and at one point we were on a straight road for 350km with nothing but bush bush bush elephant bush elephant and bush!
I sat in the cab with Adrian for most of the morning elephant spotting, so he was able to slow down in time for everyone in the back to take photos. It was really good in the front, not near as bumpy, we listened to a random selection of music and had a good old news.
We arrived at our campsite and luckily managed to pitch our tents before the rain started. It was a lovely setting with baobab trees everywhere. Some of these trees are a 1000 years old and are called the tree of life, therefore Africans don't believe in cutting them down.
The campsite was smart, it had a lovely pool and a cool bar. All the bar stools and seats were made out of cow skins, the chandeliers were made of beers bottles plus it had fast wifi.
I was really chuffed I managed to check my internet banking, my travel account and got money transferred. I also managed to redownload my blog application so I will hopefully manage to catch up with it. It would be pointless stopping now when I've managed for the last 7 or 8 weeks.
The showers were also fantastic at this place, you have no idea how good it is to get a warm powerful shower when you're camping. I then packed my small rucksack for my next few nights before hitting the bar.
A lot of us stayed up tonight and it was a good laugh. Phoebe, Randa and I 'borrowed' some wine glasses so we had something to drink our nice wine out of in the Delta. Well thats depending on whether they make it into the Delta without smashing!! Maybe not the best ideas we have had but certainly worth the try.
Another fantastic day with fantastic people! Goodnight Botswana! xxx
