After watching a film on the bus we arrived in 1770 about tea time. We checked into our room and thennwent to find the bottle shop and pub. There was me, Mark, Adam, Tom and Steve. We bought a bottle of peach vodka between us, some sprite and a bucket of shots just before the shop shut. We then went to the pub and hid the alcohol in a bush outside. We only had one drink there as it was quite expensive. We went back to the bush to get our alcohol and im pleased to say it was still there and then back to our hostel. The hostel was fairly quiet. It had a camp fire and there were some people sitting around it and one had a guitar. We gathered around a table and were just talking but I think we disturbed them as they disappeared. A girl came up to us and asked to join us. She was from a different hostel but it was also boring there. She was called Shona and she sat down with her Goon. However about 5 minutes later the owner came up and kicked her out as she wasnt allowed to bring alcohol on the premises. He had let us get away with it as we were staying there and also because we honestly didnt know there was a bar in the hostel. Thats because the bar turned out to be a fridge with 6 bottles of beer in - thats not a bar! We carried on drinking and in half an hour she had checked out of her hostel and come to stay in ours. So Shona was back. The pointed out to the man that 6 beers was not a bar so he drove them to the bottle shop to get more. It is quite funny how they have drive through bottle shops here! They came back with a whole crate. By now we had got a bit more noisy as Adam had started singing and feeling we were annoying everyone else we decided to go to the beach, which was just through the woods. So we set off but it is not as easy as you think in the dark. We were walking for ages and it was only supposed to be 100m away. At one point I fell over a twig or something and ended up on the floor and Shona also fell over at some point. After a while Adam said "Does anyone know where we are?" "No" was the answer. "Does anyone know the way back?" "No" was the answer. "Lets just sit down and have a beer while we think!" So we did as Tom had been carrying the crate of beer with him. I got given one but didnt drink it as I dont like them. There we were sat on the floor in the middle of the woods, in the middle of the night, LOST! When the boys had finished their beer we tried again and amazingly found our way out of the woods. We gave up on the beach and went back to the hostel to bed.
In the morning I checked out but had to wait to get the overnight bus so booked on the Scooteroo tour. It is a 3 hour tour of the area on a mini motor bike with a scooter engine and on the way you pass kangeroos. The tour wasnt until the afternoon so we went to the beach and found it much easier in the daylight. At 2pm we got picked up and taken to the Scooteroo base. There we were given fake tattoos, a bikers jacket and a helmet. So looking the part we then had to choose our bikes. I missed the bit where he said only choose a bike on the front row if you have riden before and just stood next to Adam and Mark (they had riden before). First we had to go around the practise lapafter he had explained how to ride them. When it was my go he soon realised I had never riden before and was on the wrong bike. He took a dislike to me I think as instead of just making me swap bikes he made me ride around the pracise lap about 100 times (no exageration) until everyone else had practised. Eventually we got to the road which was a lot easier as that was just going straight instead of round in circles. I thought I was doing quite well, I had got confidence and me and a girl called Leanne made our way from the back of the group to about halfway. Then there came a left turn. Now in my 100 practise laps I had not done a left turn as they were all right turns, which I was fine at.Now the guy that had made me do the laps decided I had gone around the corner too wide. It wasnt perfect but I thought it was OK, its not like I went on the wrong side of the road or anything. He decided to swap my bike for a lower handled bike so I could go around the corners better. This meant I was now at the back of the group again and he was right behind me. He kept shouting things at me every so often. I didnt like it, as you know when someone is watching you it makes you feel uncomfortable and more nervous. I wished he would pick on someone else. We stopped near the water to watch the sun go down and have a snack. When it was time to head off I made sure I was in the middle of the group and set off before he knew where I was. It was a much better ride back to the camp as I was more relaxed and enjoyed it. I overtook some people and made it up to 70 km/h which I couldnt do before when he was watching me. When we got back we went to the hostel and watched TV for a bit before going to get the bus to Airlie Beach.
