Our last day in Costa Rica and the sun is shining - muy bueno! We decide to stay in Puerto Viejo until the last bus leaves for San Jose at 4pm - to make the most of the sunshine and seaside setting. After packing our bags in the morning, we headed off to the black sand beach only 2min walk from the guesthouse. I was obsessed with building a shelter to shade me (and my sunburnt hands). This took 3 failed attempts, huge pieces of driftwood, a pair of trousers, several tops and scarves and many laughs from Wendy but I finally got it right. I'm so glad that I didn't decide to become an engineer!
We went to Bread & Chocolate for lunch and then headed off to the bus for our 5-hour white-knuckle ride to San Jose. We changed another bus to go to Alajuela ad the hostel near the airport. On the bus, we witnessed a petty crime incident: a guy pretending to be a passenger boarding the bus attempted to grab money from the busdriver! E didn't get away with it but he had some balls walking away and laughing!
Anyways, adios Costa Rica it's been real! Looking forward to independent travel, good food and friendly people in the USA!
