AFter a 24hour train journey from Sydney to Adelaide we were picked up at the station by my friend from uni Vick (who moved to Oz two years ago!) It was very exciting to see Vick again! She drove us to hers (where lovingly she is letting us stay at!) I have been looking forward to staying at hers for weeks - the thought of a house where its only people i know, and theres a sitting room and kitchen withour other travellers and its safe to leave your things out is just so amazing! Being at hers that first night was everything it lived up to being! Vick lives right next to the sea so we all went for a late afternoon stroll along the beach front - so lovely and im very jealous of her! She cooked us home made pizza for tea and we sat and watched tv and chatted - might not sound interesting or special to anyone but to us it was amazing!! The best thing of all was Vick has two spare beds so we got to have our own room each to sleep in - and they are doubles!! Such a massive treat! Best nights sleep ive had in months! My love for Vick trippled!
On our first day in Adelaide Vick had to work so we had to entertain ourselves - we didnt really get ourselves going to quite late (again i blame the travelling!) but eventually we got going and walked along the sea front again towards the small high street Vick lives near - we got a few jobs done - and then caught the tram into central Adelaide. It wasnt the warmest of days and being in the centre it really felt like we were in an English city! We wandered round the shops (hoping to find a cheap pair of black healed shoes - as we are going out on Saturday night and being with Vick has always meant I need heals!) Vick had told us about a shop called Target - Australias Primark - but we had no luck - they have massive feet in this country and i couldnt find a pair of shoes in my size - 5! Once Vick finished work she met us at Central Market in town - an amazing market that i wish i could buy all my food from! Its full of fruit/nuts/chocolate/yogurt/coffee beans/meat/anything you can imagine and is really busy and has a great atmosphere! We brought some extremely yummy looking yogurt - rasberry and flake!! Then Vick took us to a chinese noodle bar for dinner - yummy - we got to show off our chop stick technique (or try!) from Malaysia! We had another night in - this time with rented dvds and eating the gorgeous yogurt!
Vick was our guide for our second day - first we went to the winearies - gorgeous wine tasting for free - i got a little addicted to the free olives too - really wanted to buy myself a jar and kind of regret not getting one! The rows of vines are really attractive to see and the countryside around was very beautiful and quiet and not at all far from the city. Then Vick drove us to a really pretty and quaint German town which we wandered around and had a great lunch at. On the way home we stopped off at a gorgeous viewing point looking over the city and out to sea and where Vick said we would probably see some koalas - upsettingly even tho i looked in every tree we didnt see one. Once we got home Stu (Vick's boyfriend) cooked us Faijtas for tea - yummy - and we got ourselves a couple of bottles of wine and drank one down on the beach front as it was a lovely evening then went and got ready for our night out - I had finally found some cheap shoes felt a semi decent height to go out with my two tall friends! Was so nice to get dressed up and feel good! We had a really good night - though Adelaide doesnt quite do clubs like at home - but we still got to have a drink/dance/gossip!
