I have had a lovely few days in franz Josef despite the awful weather!
We spent the two days chilling in hot tub, cooking meals and having drinks at the bar.

I was hoping to do the 'ice explorer' trip which involved a helicopter ride up the franz Josef glacier and exploring the ice caves, however due to the bad storms we couldn't go up on the helicopter!

Instead, we climbed the fox glacier which was nearby and a lot cheaper. It was amazing how fast the glacier is melting, 8 years ago the glacier was 300m longer than it is now!

It was really good fun using the equipment getting up and over the ice and the views were very pretty.

We also went to a 'beach party' at the local bar called 'monsoon'. The weather was really bad, I don't think I have seen a storm like it! However having a few drinks with both the stray bus and Contiki bus aswell as our bus was good fun.

I am now 8 hours into a 11 hour journey to wanaka, as roads were closed due to they weather! Let's hope the next few hours to quickly!
