Spending our last few days in New Zealand in the Bay of islands was such a good idea! The weather has been beautiful, we have met some great people and had loads of fun!
We spent our time staying at Pipi Patch Base in Pahia which is a lovely seaside town. Our first day was spent exploring and laying on the beach with a book. We had a few drinks with everyone from the bus at the hostel bar which was good fun.
The second day was great, we had our first sleep in in weeks! We had a lazy day on the beach again with the guys from the bus and stayed in at night with tea and biscuits!
Our third day was so much fun. We went on the Cape Reinga day trip which was amazing, I would recommend to anyone. We travelled up to the very top of the country making several stops on the way. We stopped on the world famous 90 mile beach and actually drove along it in the coach! We also went sand boarding down huge sand dunes. It was brilliant! However, it was so much hard work to climb up the top of the sand dune in the hot sun. We all said we would have much preferred a chair lift up to the top! We had lunch at beautiful little bay just off the beach and then drove to furthest point north of New Zealand. Out driver said that the next country north of New Zealand is Russia which is over 9000 miles away!
The scenery was beautiful and we were really lucky with the weather is we had a really good time. I now can't wait to get to Australia to enjoy some more sun!
