Drove from Plitvice to Split via Plitvice National Park. It is SO beautiful here, anyone going anywhere near Croatia has to come here. Photos I have taken do not do it any justice at all, the atmosphere and the sounds of the waterfalls, streams and chirping birds just can't be captured on camera. We spent about 3 hours there walking and on boat. We left around 12ish and had lunch at a servo.
After that we made our way to Split. Its our last stop on the Trekker tour and everyone was a bit sad as they realised it was the last night. We collected tips from everyone for Carlos since he has been such an awesome guide and also made a card for him with "Adventures of Rocky and Bokkie" on the front. Rocky is a moose toy mascot for Nat who had just gone to Canada and Bokkie is Carlos's springbok mascot. Eric did a great drawing on the front of the two mascots too.
Once we got to the hostel and settled in, me, bec, alice, brent, erice, dave, pete, liz and anna all went to a seafood restaurant for dinner. (who knew at the time I would be eating seafood everynight for the next 7 days). The food was so good and fish so fresh. I shared a seafood platter with Bec which had fish, squid, prawns and veges. After that we went to Ghetto bar for farewell drinks where we all said our goodbyes. We gave Carlos the tips and card and got him so emotional that he cried... (awww). We said goodbye to Les and Jen (coolest couple ever, want to be like them when I am older, bless them).
After that some local girls showed us a beach bar and we went there for a bit. Its pretty much a club next to the beach, it was so stuffy in there... actually the whole of Croatia is so HOT, sweating 24hours a day. Actually its next to 2 other bars that line the waterfront. We then went back to our accommodation and ended up hanging out at the "cool" villa that some of the people managed to get allocated to. Stayed on their balcony for a little while and chatted. I think we all didnt want to leave because it was really the last few house we had to spend together.
PS: Im writing this after my Italian Tour as well and I have to say the Eastern Trekker was SO much fun. The places were amazing and the Carlos the tour guide/driver is the best. Anyone thinking of travelling ot Eastern Europe should do it through Eastern Trekker. Helps that the company that I was travelling were all so cool, we were very lucky that we all gelled so well and all got on like a house on fire. Some of the friends I have made I am sure I will catch up with again once I move to Australia...
