Day 1 of our Open Water PADI Course - we started off the day by getting up at 10 to 9 (as I thought we were meant to be in at 10) and rushing to the dive school for 9! We were first told a few basic skills by our instructor Adnan from Turkey, and then were shown our equipment. We packed our dive bags containing our 'fins' aka flippers, mask, wetsuit, BCD and regulator. On the boat he showed us how to attach our regulators to our air cannisters and check the air etc. When we reached tge dive site he through our wetsuits into the sea and we had to jump in and put them on. Turns out it was 10 times easier to get on than when we were at the dive school! Clambered back on the boat and got our gear on then jumped into the sea ready to go. We swam close to shore and went about 2m down to practice some skills: showing we could replace our regulator if it came out of our mouth or filled with water and clear it, empty our mask if it filled with water, used our buddy's secondary regulator if ours broke and learn the signals to go with that. Then we had to practice buoancy in the water. We then went for a swim through the coral, as expected it was beautiful, and all the colourfull fish! Electric blue, multicoloured etc. So peaceful down there it's just amazing looking at the coral reef and all the fish. Still haven't quite got the hang of tge buoyancy yet but nearly got the hang of it. We all the ascended to the top and struggled back onto the boat with tge heavy gear! Arthur and I then had to read our PADI maniLa while other people on the boat did a second dive. After that we went back to tge school and had to do some questionnaires on what we'd learnt today and Adnab explained the questions we got wrong. Had homework of Reading chapter 3 and it's questions this evening! Looking forward to 2 dives tomorrow, 1st some more skills and depending on how well we do the 2nd should be a fun dive. Went to 6m today, down to 12m tomorrow.
