We had to return our camping gear that morning at 8, as we had only wanted to rent it for 2 days, so Marlene kindly offered to return it, we had also noticed a chip on the windscreen, which she mentioned to them, but they said it was there already! We first set off for the West MacDonnell Ranges, and stopped off at a couple of pretty spots. First Emilie Gap, where we walked through a little stream to see some aboriginal paintings, and read about the ancestral stories surrounding this gorge. We stopped off at another Gap, this time Jessie's. We got out and wondered around for a bit and took some photos, we tried to then get to Corroborree Rock, however we came across a creek, which had steep banks and wasn't too shallow and our car wouldn't have made it across, so we had to turn back, but we stopped off instead to see the Ghost Gum, which is the tallest gum tree, this example was 33m high, but they can get even higher!! We drove then to the West MacDonnells to Simpson's Gap, and again we walked through and took some photos, the sun had peeped out a bit so the photos were a little better! But we were getting a little tired of seeing similar things, even though they were beautiful, and Arthur and I quite wanted to go to Anzac hill in Alice Springs to see over the town, we also had to be back before 4.30 as we had a Camel Ride booked! We went back to Alice Springs, and climbed Anzac Hill, and you can see over all of the town, and also some of the MacDonnell ranges, that was nice and the sun was out. We made our way back to the hostel and Marlene returned the car. There were some new additions to our dorm, two German girls (typical!!) who were really lovely and friendly, so we were just chatting and chilling with them all evening, they were off to Thailand in a week, so may bump into them over there! After Marlene got back, she, Arthur and I got picked up to go for our camel ride! I was so excited, I've wanted to ride one the whole time we've been here, and thankfully the sky was clear and it was really hot, so we were going to get a good sunset, (I had been worried as it had been cloudy most of the day!). My camel was called Sali and he was our guides favourite, Arthur was on Greyhound and Marlene was on Ruby, there was one other person on our ride. We went out into a cattlestation and rode through the amazing scenery with the sun setting, it was amazing. Camels are huge, and are totally different to horses but they are amazing creatures, and when they run are the funniest things! There were some cows blocking our way on the way back and one of them made to try and run at us, but lost interest! (mum would have hated it! they were all staring at us). My camel then didn't let me down for 10 minutes, and the guide was trying and trying to make him sit, but he was just staring blankly at her. Eventually he let me down! We then saw them being fed and they all were eating together it was cool. We then went back to the hostel and chilled in our room with the Germans and then bed!
