So....after being delayed I finally arrived in New Zealand. I hoped on the airbus and found where I was staying for the next three nights with jas in Auckland.
Auckland is dominated by a series of volcanoes roughly 20! Also 1 in 10 people in Aucklanders own a boat and there are more boats per capita there than anywhere in the world.
I spent my first day in the "city of sail" was spent catching up on jet lag and sorting out how I was going to travel around the country. Jas arrived that evening so we decided to get some dinner and have a drink in a pub nearby. Although is one drink ended up getting home at 4 in the morning after attending a stag do. (jas also got shat on by a bird!!)
The next day (Saturday) we decided to take a walk around the city centre but the weather was not so great,so we ended up going shopping. That evening we went to NANDOs!! I was so excited its been a very long time since I saw nandos. It was great - although I missed my usual nandos crew. That evening ended up going out again.
Sunday was a late start to the day but we headed to Kelly Tartlons. This was the first ever acquriaum that had a walk through tunnel (when you are surrounded by fish). They now have penguins, lots breeds of sharks and different breeds of seahorses. I won't bore you with the details but if your into that stuff like me then you should go to this place. After this we headed into one of the suburbs called Parnell - more traditional and known for the classy cafes. We grabbed some lunch and then head to where Jas will be living passing one tree hill and mt Eden. This evening we were tired so we headed to a curry house (hadn't had one of these either since I left the UK) and then bed.
Monday morning came too quickly - we had to check out. Then we were heading to Waiheke island for four days.
