Day 50 - 52: 4th September - 6th September: Valparaiso and Vina de mar
I arrived in Valparaiso after a 2 hour bus journey, it was back to hostel life and having to share a dorm. Valparaiso was a little town on the coast of Chile. It was a very important seaport in the country. Valparaiso is a city and commune of Chile, center of its third largest conurbation and one of the country's most important seaports and an increasing cultural center in the Southwest Pacific hemisphere. The city is the capital of the Valparaíso Province and the Valparaíso Region. Although Santiago is Chile's official capital, the National Congress of Chile was established in Valparaíso in 1990. The Casa de Valparaiso hostel was really nice although there were not many people around. I was staying in a place called cerro conception - it was quiet touristy so it was quiet expensive. I spent my first day walking around the town it was very nice, I also went clothes shopping which was great as I was very bored of my clothes; although now my backpack is very full.
The second day took me to Vina de mar which was a short metro journey from Valparaiso. Vina de mar is a beach place full of tourists and hotels. Viña del Mar is best known as a tourist and beach resort destination, its white sanded beaches include "the be seen" Reñaca Beach, Las Salinas Beach. I spent the day sun bathing on the beach. Not too exciting in Valapariso and Vina de Mar. Next stop is La Serena for a few days!
