Had a very busy last few days in Hoi An, spent alot of time in the tailors trying on oursuits and jackets and making sure they were perfect, we were so relieved when we finally picked them all up and collected our shoes too. On our last day we organised to go on a day trip to My Son this is an ancient hindu temples built from the 8th to 10th century, hidden in the jungle, it has the most amazing brick and stonework, managed to survive the war, had a great time looking around and learnt alot from our guide spider!
On the way back we took a boat trip to an old woodworkand handicraft village, had a bit of spare time when we got back so just relaxed down by the river with some more fresh beer! Eventually got on the bus for another 12hr overnighter to Nha trang and the beach!! Arrived at 6am this morning even then it was hot and 100s of people in the sea. Had a lookaround the city and beach stopped at a really nice hotel resort on the beach and chilled out then did some more sunbathing on our hotels rooftop garden which had loads of hammocks so i was happy.
This afternoon we visited a local mud spa, it was great fun, had to sit in a pool of mud and then sunbath while the mud dried beautifully to our skin, then hopped in to various mineral showers and the warmest pool ever 38 degrees, had a lovely time and all came out sparkling with such soft skin!!! just going out for dinner stil knackered from no sleep on the bus. x x x

Verina And Jesus
Yes I am officially going out with my very own Jesus, the hotel staff instantly decided upon arrival that toby looked like Jezoo!! Otherwise know to us as Jesus!!! They shout out to him Jezooo everytime he leaves the room, its hilarious, and he just laps it up!! Never seen Jesus look so dapper in a suit tho, we love them, had our fittings yesterday few minor adjustments but their great hopefully as lucky as you say nick, coz were gonna need instant jobs on our return!! Spent most of the afternoon yesterday between fitings down by the river drinking local beer, gotta enjoy the life while it lasts!!
Nick and Rach, Cheers for the tip on the shoes, toby ordered some we are picking them up today, we don't want any shriveling dying toes! Good to hear from you mate, congratulations on the jobs, looking forward to seeing you soon and drowning our sorrows x
Nick And Rach
Good Morning (vietnam) you lucky lucky bastedeios,
Here's my first message to you that I haven't got rach to type me. Chuffed your still having a blast and seemed another life ago since we were in Freo all together, looking through our photo's last night and seems a life time ago already and we've only been back a month!!
Well, the Hoi An suits are luck suit, with them on tuesday and wednesday rachel and I both secured FT jobs and goodens at that, we dont deserve it and they fell in our laps, MUST BE THE SUITS. Keep trying on any shoes you have made as mine are trying to make my little toe shrivle up and die at the moment.
Hope you enjoy HCMC and then Cambodia and where-ever else you may be going after that!! Looking forward to having you back in the south so we can all sit round being sad, reminising and crying like ass-holes. Good luck for glastonbury round 2 at 9AM ON 22ND APRIL. Try using a comp with morzilla firefox, worked for us but easier said than done over there.
All the best guys, keep it real, dont steal, catch ya later, baked potateo.

Currently in Hoi An, is great!!! Such a lovely town, lots of lovely architecture it is a world Heritage site, situated on the river. Major attraction to westerners is that it has over 200 tailoring shops, and its so cheap, so we spent last night being fitted for new suits, (so we look lovely and smart for all our hundreds of job interviews be having when we get back argh!!) Even the boys who insited that they weren't having anything made ended up having there inner leg slightly fondled whilst being measured for suits, the crazy little Vietnamese ladies loved them.
Today we are leaving our wallets at home to stop temptation, no more shopping! Yesterday we bumped into Jackie and Brad again, cool to see them they had ended up staying in practically all the same places as us, its a small world this travelling circuit. Then later that night even freaker turned round to met Caroline Tolley, from good old Clarendon House, who haven't seen for about 6 years, so great to see her, she was looking as gorgeous as ever. We are even on the same flight leaving Bangkok!!!!
We have had a little look round the old town to check out some sights, but there are plenty more to see, found a Japanese bridge (building started in year of the Monkey (toby's year!) and finished in year of the dog!!(thats me!). Walked round the market and haggled for some bargains, then went along the river to one of the many resturants where they serve Local fresh beer for 3,000 dong thats 10p, it tastes great (even i like it!!) tried some of the local specialities, White Rose, Wontons, Hoi An pancakes and a wierd cake wrapped in banana leaf, you had unwrap it and then eat in one go and wash it down with a shot of tea. I loved it but Verity had to reuse her banana leaf before she choked, quite funny.
Gonna have a wonder round today, while we wait for your clothes to be made and then have fitting later today, very exciting x x x
ps hope that you all had a good easter and enjoyed the bank holiday x

Spent one day in Hue, was nice but wanted to get on to Hoi An and the beaches, had a nice leisurely stroll around the town on the South bank where a huge city wall surrounds the town with a moat and lots of gardens and promanade that runs along the river banks. Visited the Citadel a huge war memorial and the palace, but we were too late to go in so walked round the growns, had lunch at a Lac Thien Cafe, it is run by a charity for deaf and mute, who work and serve you, inside the cafe is covered in messages and signitures from other travellers a little secret mecca. The owner made us all the legendary bottle opened that have circulated the globe, he has photos send back from all the travellers with there bottle openers in exotic locations and at famous landmarks. That night found a nice bar had a great meal and a few drinks met some friends who we met in hanoi, went back to hotel only to be locked out again!! Next day we got the bus to Hoi an only 4 hours.
Toby And Verina
Wow, what a hectic few days!! its been great had a wicked time in Hanoi its a massive city the population is 5 million and there are 3 million mopeds. Crossing the road is a dare devil feat, you just walk confidently into the road and dont look back or hesitate for a second (i mostly hold onto tobys arm and close my eyes) there seems to be safety in numbers. The mopeds just wind and swerve around you, there is a continuous sounds of honking horns you can even hear it in your sleep. We have witnessed an accident nearly everyday, they just seem to laugh it off, its crazy. The streets are endless, people bustling around, always people siting in the streets on tiny little stalls, the roads are an endless maze of shops selling everything you can possibly imagine, like a whole street of bamboo, DIY, motorbikes, clothes, shoes, even a road just selling balloons and party poppers. There are hundreds of street vendor restuarants serving unidentifiable items in steaming bowls, even saw fried chickens in recycled pepsi cans, menus with turtle and various dog dishes available. Toby sampled a kebab to this day we will never know if it was dog or not think thats what made him abit ill. There are little bars on the road if your lucky you will score a stall or not so lucky a square of cardboard to sit on and they serve up beer straight from the keg, for 10 p a pint, plus cigarettes are 15p. There is so much to see and do we were endlessly getting lost down the streets and uncovering something new to check out.
When we found Verity and Will, they emerged after staying in a luxury hotel for the night cheeky monkeys, we headed down to the Hoan Kiem Lake the liquid heart of the old quarter and the citys landmark turtle tower stands in the middle, we crossed the bridge and visited the Ngoc Son Temple, then got into a cyclo to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum its where Ho Chi Minh is buried in the tradition of Lenin, Stalin and Mao. The One Pillar pagoda very impressive. After the cyclo drivers trying to rip us off (not going to fall for those scams anymore!) we were dropped at Hells Market, it was quite literally like its name, we found it hell, when we reached the end of the market the smell hit you first, then we discoved to our disgust hundreds of butchered dogs, boiled with features remaining, it turned our stomachs, verity nearly turned veggie after that experience.
Later that night we found the Real Kangaroo Cafe and had the most amazing burgers (not very Vietnamese but we were craving some western food!!) This was followed by the famous water puppet show. Although it was rather crammped it was great entertainment tickets were only 20,000 kip less than a pound. The puppets danced around in the water (obviously) there were lots of fireworks and music , not sure if we quite understood the storyline but was great fun to watch.
The next morning had to be up early to catch the bus to Halong Bay, where we had a 2 days one night boat trip around the bay and staying on Cat Ba island. The boat trip was lovely and calm beautiful scenery, stopped at Caves of Heaven, a world heritage site, they were huge only discovered in 1998, bit wierd they even added a water feature. Halong Bay its currently the low season at bit too cold for sunbathing up on deck, so settled for a some tiger beers instead, met some cool people on the boat, so went out for drinks later that night. Cat Ba looked a bit like Christmas lights in the bay, it was such a contrast to the rest of the unihabited island, that night we were thankfull of the lights as we did abit of twilight kayaking, was meant to be at sunset but the guide was running to his own random schedule kept losing people.
The evening started with lots of cocktails and ended in eating chicken feet and lots of egg baguettes, rice vodka in a backstreet shop (bit different to Derby Grill!) The next day we had quite a long day ahead of us, the boat back to Halong Bay then onto a coach to Hanoi waited a few hours to get the over night bus to Hue. The coach ride was so luxurious compared to our previous experience in Laos. Now in Hue it used to be the old capital, has lots of lovely architecture, and is the cultural religious and educational center lots of war history to learn about.
Pretty tired from all the travelling so not going on a guided tour just gonna cruise around by ourselves and check out the city
