Day one North Island

Arrived in Auckland and got a taxi to our hotel Aspen house that was recommended to us by Jez and it was like a prison! Think we lasted all of five minutes and decided we could not stay there. The room was literally like a prison cell with no windows and did not seem very clean or inviting, so we left (may have seemed different if we had not just got of a business class flight). We flagged a taxi down and he took us the Hilton (the only one I could remember that was near by!). We agreed that we should have a bit of luxury after our long flight before collecting the campervan. Don't think much to Auckland, it's quite a dirty place and graffiti everywhere. Down the main street, it's full of road works and building works. Staying on the quay was ok, a bit more up market, but nothing compared to Salford quays!!!.
