Goodbye India... Hello Nepal! 2 days stoppover in Kathmandu. The tourist district seems like the Queenstown of Nepal, tourist and outdoor shops, travel agencies, mixed with hostels and bars. Still there is less hassling, less traffic and no cows on the streets.
On Sunday we walked into downtown to Dubar Square, where you can find one temple next to the other... 35 alltogether! Back in Thamel we hid from the pouring rain (the first during our journey!) in a nice cafe. Before I spend the rest of the afternoon with a much needed and very relaxing mani- and pedicure ;-)
On Monday we went to see the Garden of Dreams and then had a tour to Buddhanath Stupa, a huge buddhist temple and then visited Swayambhu Temple high above the Kathmandu valley with a beautiful view of the city and the mountains.
Being pretty done with sightseeing and shopping alltogether we spend the rest of the afternoon having drinks on a backyard terrace and looking forward to some quiet and relaxing time on the beach in Thailand!!
