A twisty, hilly and picturesque drive to Emma and Luke's. A warm welcome as we arrived to their fantastic huge home and garden. A modern new bungalow with a larger then large garden. Luke cooked a BBQ and Heston and Quilan their boys entertained us! Much to Luke and Phils amusement Emma and I had a great catch up, telling the boys our stories from school and college. Quickest flight ever.....only took 2.30 from Sydney to Auckland and was served free refreshments! Pink grapefruit juice to start, I had slow roasted beef, mash and veg, Phil had chicken and couscous salad, we were sensible/boring and had sodas rather then beer and then they came round with ice creams! Watched a new release movie, chic flick with Recse Witherspoon, Fugitive, was funny! So.

Arrived in the pouring rain! Got soaked walking into the city to get supplies for the long weekend and check the place out.....stopped raining and was dry in 30 mins! Saturday we walked around the city and waterfront which was lovely with its little beach and wave pool, and lots of cool bars and restaurants. We booked a table for that evening. Arrived in Cairns in just over 2 hours flying time, a shuttle bus picked us up and brought us straight to the Cairns City Motel, a budget hotel but perfect location and has all we need, beds, private bathroom (after being in the camper a private bathroom is luxury) fridge, toaster and kettle.
