Our drive through the Rocky Mountains of Colorado did not disappoint us! We had planned on tent camping that night in the Rockies, but torrential rains and booming thunder prompted us to drive into Vail and find a hotel instead. Being a passionate snowboarder, I've always hoped to visit Vail because it's a lovely ski village. Since it was the off-season, we had our choice of luxury hotels for a fraction of their normal prices. We settled into The Lodge at Vail and got dressed in our mountain best to go off exploring! The Lodge was in the heart of the ski village, so it was nice to just get the BOB stroller out and walk outside to the shops and restaurants that were just as cute as I'd imagined they would be. There was a rushing river that ran right through the village, adding even more beauty for the senses to indulge in. We ate dinner at a Mexican restaurant that overlooked the slopes, which were green at this time of year. The view was great, the food was just ok. Living in Santa Barbara spoiled my tastebuds with the best Mexican foods! The salt-rimmed margarita glasses made the view even better though, and Ty and I sipped them happily as Noah entertained himself in the Highchair. Of course the instant the food arrived, he wanted to sit on our laps, silly boy.
After dinner, we walked around a rather vacant Vail Village. We both high-fived when we saw that Noah had fallen fast asleep in the BOB, which allowed us to find a cozy table on the patio that hung right along the rivers edge. As Noah snoozed, we ordered hot dessert drinks called St. Bernard Hot Cocao. The waitress set two large mugs of piping hot cocoa mixed with Grand Marnier, Godiva liquor, and Baileys topped off with a swirly twirly of whipped cream.
The baby was asleep, the air was crisp, the river sung a peaceful song, and we were sipping steamy deliciousness. We slept great that night.
