Woke up after a nice nap in my none sea view room...so no point in pulling the blinds I thought...
Either way hosed off....got some breakfast and it looked not bad out....again...bit of a weird town...hard to describe it...bit like Coney Island....Grey day....no rain at least...time to head to London. So packed up....got on bike....and the first rain drops started to fall.....by the time b****in betty got me to just about out of town...it was raining pretty good...time to put the gear on. So found some shelter and took a few minutes to get my "It"s gunna pour!" gear on.
With the right gear....rain is not an issue on a bike. Off I went....then the skies opened up...holy crap did it rain....and to add to the mix a major gale rolled in..sooo driving rain...crazy winds....and then to add to it...the motorway became a parking lot...crapolla....I filtered for 30 miles.
Now you have to realize...you are zipping between the cars that may turn in on you at any time...or they move in wards as you are next to them...at times...cm of space it seems....but either way...I pressed on...after about 30 miles of this my brain was taxed...needed to rest so pulled into the rest stop on the highway...sort of several restaurants in a hub....you don't even take the helmet off as you walk in the rain is coming down so hard. Lot of bikers hanging by the front door...I went in and left a major puddle behind me...got the helmet off and my jacket and sat down and stared into space for about 10 minutes to get me facilities...in a puddle...crap its a wee bit tiring....you make time but s***e...nuthin is for free....
Now I had been on the road for a few hours...figured I should be getting fairly close.. took a look on the map and s***e not not even 1/3 of the way.....that sucked. Not a great feeling but needed to get there tonight as I did book a room...in the action....I thought. Sooo packed up and off I went again....good thing I moved my return up a day.
So just about to leave the parking lot and me blinky went off on the dash...low tire...or tyre...ackkkk. So I pulled in and it was very plo tire on the back...so I went to the pump to pump i t up...nooooo the stooped nozzle would not quite fit on the stem...so I was almost hooped...but decided time to pull out the pump...I always carry a lil electric pump....worked great...found a place to park out of the rain and after about 15 minutes...mostly unpacking and repacking...tyre was pumped up and good to go..no holes so must just be a slow leak.
Least this time the rain started to let up...but now the winds picked up more...had to ride side saddle on the rises it was so strong. Hate that....rain I don't mind wind sucks. Really pushes you around. Finally the road opened up a bit and I was able to make some time...just got on the arse end of a speed demon and off I went. took abut 6 hours for what I thought would be maybe 3 and a half hours. Soooo I rolled into London a we bit later than I wanted. But I made it!!
The fun part was navigating to where my hotel was...holy crap in Piccadilly...near Trafalgar Square. Sheeshhhhhh what a crazy busy traffic ride that was...I am a filtering god...I can squeeze that bike into cracks you would not fit a credit card in....and it makes a huge diff on time...... I found the hotel pretty easy but it had no parking at all....sooo had to find a spot nearby luckily I did and parked it....unloaded and checked in. Whooooo fun ride....and I am in the middle of the city of London it would seem to be an awesome location.
So now time to hose off the grime and check out London....wow was I ever in a cool area. Seems it is near everything of historic worth.....so I just started walking...Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Waterloo, Canada house....tons of people lots of activity...very cool town. Tourists everywhere thought...but I guess I was one too...but I'm not too obvious I suspect.... most of my walk I did good samaritan photos for couples and families with their cameras all over the place. Not one tip...or offer for a beer though sighhhhh...
About here me stomach reminded me to eat...it was a bit late now but teh palce was a hub of activity. I ended up in the restaurant next to the hotel a brazilian place....wowser.first time with the endless skewers of meat...a carnivore's paradise.....endless parade of various types of meats cooked on spits....you have a big round coaster red on one side green on the other....as long as the green side is up the food keeps on coming...turn it to red...they assume you need to burp and leave you be for a bit.
Nice way to end the day...and me hotel was nice to boot. They upgraded me and the room was huge...not at all what I expected .... had a tv in the bathroom...that was also a mirror....kinda wild. Time to try to crash as tomorrow I need to wander around and try to see the sites and get me bike back.
