So we slept in a bit and our guy picked us up to take us to the Wadi Rum....Wadi means desert....Rum is the name. I was really disappointed once I heard that.....
So it was a couple of hours drive south of Wadi Musa or Moussa depending on which sign you read almost ll the way to Aqaba. Neat to see the landscape around here.....we are talking desert. Camels....Bedouin's etc etc.....Not much else. So we got to the tour outfit and they had a Jeep waiting for us. Our tour guide....Mohammed....ha ha....was a Bedouin and was a hoot. He said he didn't know much English but he did and he was a blast. We drove into the Wadi Rum....in a 4x4 and it was amazing. The mountains rise out of the desert poof just like that. The colors of the sand change also. They have Gold, red, brown, and white sand.
Lawrence of Arabia wandered around here.....and they are having fun with it. Our guide was telling us some funny stories that they just rename things Lawrence this or that...then the tourists want to see it. He thought it was hilarious...but he wouldn't say it on video. Then he really took us 4x4ing in the dunes....we got some serious air on some of them...they are huge. I think I got some neat video but time will tell.
We got to check out a Bedouin tent and watch the camels....cool....but it did cool off unfortunately for us.
This is where I have discovered why the Arabs wear the towel on the head....those things are dang versatile. Works as a scarf keeps ya real warm, keeps the sand out of the eyes, keeps the sun off the neck and head.....and it can be used as a pillow, also keeps the rain off the head too....and they can be fashionable also.
So we ripped around the desert....the real desert for a few hours and took in the views....very cool.....
Next stop Karak......
